Carugati Switzerland : We have modern car and also classic cars available for sale. There is one for sale at this dealership. Thoughts?
Welcome to the Vetro thread! Car looks good, although worth mentioning it seems to have a dual outlet exhaust instead of a single outlet, but retains it's single outlet cutout in the rear valance. They seem to have painted the valance black to hide the disparity, but not a difficult fix I suppose. I wonder why there's no picture of the engine bay, and also just to point out it's expensive to bring a car out of Switzerland into an EU country as you'll have to pay full VAT and customs duty.
not always For the Netherlands it would be only 6% VAT and no costums. In europe there more countries with these sort of arrangements
I am not sure it was "standard OEM", but I am under the impression that for "standard continental euro" cars it happened more on swiss cars than anywhere else? Rgds
Could the black doors with tan seats be an original feature? [Edit] I just noticed the missing door bins so I guess the doors have been modified. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This car has been sitting there for some time now. 7.5 inch wheels and 4 outlet exhaust is common for Swiss delivered 308's.
Steven, it's 7% and since 1.1.2014 it's valid all over the EU. But the car has to be at least 30 years old and largely original. When it was exclusively a dutch regulation all cars from overseas have been imported via Rotterdam (Netherlands) with further transport into other EU-countries, whose customs then missed out. Best Regards Martin
More or less it's the same in France. From my last november experience in importing an Austin Healey from the USA: no custom fees and reduced VAT applicable (5.5%). For old cars coming from CE: no custom fees, no VAT. But, to be considered as a "véhicule de collection" (from a custom bulletin), the car must be - no more in production - > 30 years old - largely original with no significative modification / origin regarding the body, steering, braking system, transmission, suspension and engine.
the last one is very subjective to interpretation and furthermore, which average custom official knows what was original or not. I was kind of nervous the first time but they told me to relax as this was a typical desktop rule..
Posted elsewhere I know, but I thought we needed this in the Vetro thread! UK rock drummer the late Cozy Powell tops up the 'fluids' of his fiberglass car in London, guessing late 70's early 80's. Image Unavailable, Please Login
great photo mike ..... can't be many white rhd vetros , wonder if this car is still around? looking at the Ford Escort in the background, i think that model was introduced in 1980, so photo was probably taken very early '80's BR, Jez
I spotted a white RHD vetro at a FCA gathering in Sydney last year - so there is at least one still around
Oh it's not my sale, I already sold the car to a friend who wanted to auction it. I am rooting however for my friend and for all VR owners for a good result.
