My car is currently undergoing a belt change, and various other things while in the shop. (360s F1)
The mechanic sent me this photo of the transmission mount, pointing out that the rubber had separated from the housing.

What other than age caused this? I understand this is a wear item, and the car is 15 years old ~33.5k miles...... I'm just curious if I can help prevent it from happening again.

Have them replace it with the upgraded one. The upgraded one is used on the 430
Also if you have a sport exhaust be sure to use the heat shield that Ferrari offers.

Adding Fabspeed coated headers w/Fabspeed blankets & Fabspeed heat shields..... Think that will be enough?

Absolutely normal for the age of the car. Like a previous poster mentioned, there is an F430 one that replaces the 360 bushing. But again, nothing unusual or abnormal in that bushings replacement after X amount of years.

Falcon, the part # 67912300 is the shield that I'm talking about... Looks more like for shielding the bushing from the muffler, rather than the headers. Great your getting them with the blankets. It's going to be a sweet sounding ride!

Thanks for all of the replies.

Car is being taken care of by Maranello Motorworks. I have quite a lot of confidence in their work.

It's all good mate. This is a very common problem in this car and about every other car ever made that uses this same style mount.

There isn't much you can do to prevent it from happening, just replace it when it cracks out again.

    It's from naturally occurring ozone

Better materials could have been used but they weren't

This heat shield is included in the Stradale muffler kit.

It is not required with the standard Ferrari muffler, but could be added for good measure particularly if an aftermarket muffler is in the future.

Question:"What, other than age, caused this".

Answer: "Using the engine as designed."

Like everyone else said, that is normal.....first thing I did with my 99 with 22k miles on it.

Put the 430 mount in too....if you do it yourself, get the Hill tool and watch the orientation of the mount since the 430 mount must be put in a specific direction

As to what did it.....two things....operating as designed and gravity....two things that you don't have any control over.

Mine looked way worse than that. The metal insert was missing out of mine. It's quite amazing how much more tight the car feels replacing the engine mounts and transmission mount.
