My recall work was done less than 3 years ago and I have abrasion from something. It looks to me to be from the "tail" on the hose clamp. It appears that either whoever had replaced the clamp in the pass installed too large of one with excess "tail" on it or they did not insure that it was rotated property to avoid contact. In any case, I would think that should have been caught with they did the recall install but wasn't. I now have abrasion that has worn through the SS on the line and into the rubber.
It I understand Brian correctly and from your example and the one in the video, the recall in its final design moved the lines far enough from the clamps that if prudent observation of the clamp and proper selection of size ( no long tail) is done, there shouldn't be a problem. If improper clamp selection and/or lack of attention to nut location on replacement, there could be an abrasion issue even with the recall done. I was not aware of this before this thread. Easy to check and get fixed if it needs to be and could save your car and much more.
Thanks. Because of you playing the video with the speakers turned up he has now removed the video , and is sitting in a corner with a head as a tomato....
LOL if thats all it takes I will make one myself with sound effects maybe a multi cam view I am proud to clear a room with farts, it's still one of my favorite things to do at 56 years young
I have this on my phone: iFart Mobile - #1 iPhone App - The Premier Fart Application for iTunes Is that wrong?
Update on my story. I took my car to the former dealer shop (still a shop - no longer a Ferrari dealer) expecting them to replace the hose free of charge as part of the original warranty. My mistake. The fuel block was the warranty part but its the same hoses as before. Apparently the previous owner, when they had the warranty work done had elected not to replace the worn hose. Mine is no longer rubbing but I'm not comfortable leaving the worn hose there. Its braided steel for a reason and exposed rubber underneath isn't a good thing. I could have replaced the hose myself but since my car was already at the shop, laziness took over and I gave them the go ahead to replace it. I can't believe that a simple braided hose is over $300! That's the Ferrari tax for you. No telling what the labor is going to be on top.
checked ricambi site......if it makes you feel any better some of the hoses are well over $400. You replaced the cheapest one! Feel better now?
FBB, I should have been more precise in my description. Just the segment of oil line running under the manifold is a steel pipe. The rest of line on either side is the stock shielded oil line. My car goes in for servicing next month prior to Daytona. I'll take and post some pictures when the car is on the lift.
Spoke to the shop today. The fuel line had to be ordered from Ferrari in NJ and should be in tomorrow. They are only looking at 1/2 hour of labor so having them do the work seems reasonable. I was kicking myself for being lazy and expecting a big labor charge. It would have taken me longer just to get my tools out.
