I'm in the market and considering this one and your black 458. My concern is why do they both have steel rotors? Mileage I can live with as long as it has been serviced at Ferrari specified intervals. Any info on both 458's will be greatly appreciated!
All new 458's come with carbon ceramic rotors. Unless the previous owner swapped out the ceramics with steel rotors but that definitely is not the norm. Sometimes driving experience companies do this (you pay to take 3-4 laps around a track which is then replicated numerous times throughout the day) with their cars because it is a cheaper options for them in the long run.
I am not saying this specific car was used for that type of event. I am sure the seller can answer your question better than I can. The rotors don't appear to be stock though. Nice catch on your part.
Mike, Can you please help explain the reason this 458 does not have CCB's? I realize your a dealer and have not been the owner but I would suspect you would have asked the question prior to your purchase. Thanks for your help!
cant say why they converted over to steel brakes, however most of my customers have done this due to not wanting to pay so much for carbon ceramics in the past. But I don't have exact knowledge to as of why or where the originals are now for this particular car.
I can confirm that a few of these cars are "driving experience" track rental cars. These came from a seemingly defunct company called Exotic Driving Experience in NC: 2011 458 Italia in this thread 2008 430 Scuderia with 28k miles 2009 430 Scuderia with 58k miles 2x 2009 Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 with ~35k miles each These are confirmed. I suspect the Black 2010 458 Italia is also a rental. Here's a video of the car in this thread going around the track in Charlotte. [ame]http://youtube.com/watch?v=2HlFqqb3tpM[/ame]
Sometimes when you buy asset sales like such, you will never know the person who is the debtor as that info is kept private by either debtor choice or bank choice. so technically I didn't know who owned them and quite frankly being a dealer like myself I didn't care really as we knew we are dealing with lien holders direct. I was just happy to get some inventory pieces if you know what I mean. We did find a lot of info later as some of the buyers of the cars we sold did our research for us so to speak. We did ppi's on all cars ourself before buying and I picked out the best 6 out of the bunch of cars that were up for sale during the time. Now these are only 6 cars that were purchased on this deal I made. Not ALL cars we have were purchased in such a way or from such a team or business. We buy cars from all different sources just like any other dealer does. We purchased 6 cars out of the bunch that we personally hand picked with my techs in north Carolina. I paid the bank off direct and took titles and flew back home, sent transport out for them same day. When buying I took in mind I don't know the owners, or how such a company even had them or went under or had to sell assets for money purposes. Since then we have had all cars serviced, checked out front to back, and they are all in great shape. The 2 Gallardo's are sold in first two weeks, the red scud was sold to the first person to lay eyes on it , the black Italia is here still, the red Italia is here and I may end up keeping it for a personal daily driver, the yellow scud is here and we don't mind keeping it around either for a future track car or a promotional car. Its a pretty clean, car if you ask me. Thanks guys,
Thank you for the explanation. However, are you claiming that you did not know where these cars came from? I've received evidence that strongly suggests otherwise.
not sure who your source is or who your getting your info from. but technically ive learned more about these cars from your post and videos then anyone else. If you have any questions or concerns on my cars feel free to call me direct or pm me anytime. And if anyone else has any questions feel free to call as well. thanks mike
I received this image that is claimed to be taken by you when you bought the cars. The image clearly shows the fully-branded trailer of the driving experience track rental company in the background. Thoughts?
this is your evidence... lol FIRST OFF THIS PIC WAS TAKEN BY MY TRANPORTER AFTER THE SALE WAS DONE AND MADE and sent to me by phone text. that trailer was not there on the day we purchased our cars. so maybe this was a transporter for them or maybe this was something being auctioned off as well. they were having a sale day the next day for alot of other stuff too. but at the end of the day i can see your confusion. and see your concern so not going to hang you up on it. mistakes all happen sometimes no biggie. Thanks,
To be clear, that is a trailer for the Richard Petty Driving Experience (associated track rental company): http://waytofamous.com/images/richard-petty-08.jpg As you stated, the picture was taken and received by you prior to the sale of the vehicles to your current customers.
