1976 Turbo on mobile.de. Nice photo of the production number on the inner door. For 3-liter Turbos, the production number location must have switched from the back of the door cards ('75 and early '76) to the inside metal door, sometime during the 1976 model year. No affiliation.

Thanks Phil and Rich! I am excited as a kid in the candy store

I have a spare Turbo Valve housing off a 1975 Turbo. It's a 1 year only part. I checked tonight and no surprise, the green dots in the knuckle of the housing.

When I bought the part, I tried cleaning up the white and didn't even notice the green dot. I used water only and I do know that it isn't easily removable.

Could it be that all 1975's were checked and tagged with the green paint? Can anyone confirm that they own a 1975 and don't have the green tag?

It could be that they were all checked and tagged and it's just an inspection mark. My Turbo Valve housing is original but there is no green paint tag there today. Unfortunately, in the one vintage photo I have, that area is blocked by a paper towel roll. Not sure if the green dot decal that was present on the connecting tube was for the same purpose.

From a Porsche 1970s accessories catalog. Sheet is dated 4/77. May have been the same style box in 1976.

Wow. Big money. Bigger money than either of the two 1976's... That said, I haven't a clue as to quality of all the cars as I am not there... Can anyone chime in to the specifics?

As for just looking quick at the ice green 1977 car, it looks like it has the wrong speaker grills in the doors and non original carpet. This makes my 1977 I am strongly considering selling at $115,000 look cheap with a perfect lobster red interior & sport seats...

Thought you were thinking $215k instead of $115k ?

It did look like a nice car...probably a repaint but it looked nice. my wife loved the color. the 89 speedster right behind it sold for less than a lot of those you see FS at the ask price elsewhere. granted I don't know what the mileage was.

I inspected all of the 3.0 turbos at auction this weekend as I enjoy seeing what is selling. None of them were spectacular cars. The best of the bunch was the white 76 at RM and perhaps well bought. I was interested in bidding on the ice green metallic car at BJ. It was a nice car for an auction setting and very well sold.

Now that is more representative to Hagerty value as it is a restored car. Now I wonder what a real same color #1 original 77 could bring?

Not exactly restored. I would say refreshed.

I was not there, just reading the BJ PR. Being there gives a more accurate analysis. Thanks for all your observations and to shed light on the "real deal". It's been a few year since I hit all the sales, a good time, for sure.

BJ Quote: "It is fresh off a complete restoration (interior, engine, wheels and body) by marque specialists Truspeed to exact original specification."
