Never been to the Gooding auction... Geez!, forty bucks.
What's the venue like, are cars spaced out or are they crammed together like Barrett so it's impossible to get good pictures? Are there vendors there like at Barrett, art, products displays and booths, food, etc.?, what's the parking situation, do you have to walk a long way to the show?, how big is it compared to Barrett?, half the size , a quarter size ?

No vendors aside from some food/drink. If you are on the floor, they'll hand out food. I had some great food the year prior.

Cars are spread out a little and I don't know if it's still at the same spot as last year, but parking was great, I walked out of the parking garage and was basically in the event. Comparing it to Barrett size wise is difficult. It's fairly small, not a lot of walking, I could be in and out within half an hour, maybe less...and still get photos of all the cars probably.

Well, it's not really meant for tourists. It's meant for people to buy cars. There are no circus attractions like at BJ. It's not a "show," but an auction. The three nigh level auction houses: rm, gooding, and Bonhams, are very different from BJ, which is a complete circus. They focus on selling premium cars in an environment free of distractions so that people can really focus on what they're there to buy.

As to he parking, it's just a parking lot next to the auction venue. You walk about 20 meters. Not sure if that's considered a "long way" or not.

    Exactly! A circus.

The Public Parking onsite is filling up and they are routing people off site and asking them to take buses in. It's madness there.

Yeah, I was expecting that...I'm planning on taking UBER. Anyone know where to tell the driver to drop me off that would avoid the lines of cars?

Ron - also sending you a PM re something mentioned in your book.

A friend of mine told me about the Pontiac Trans Am at BJ ...

    1979 PONTIAC FIREBIRD TRANS AM

Sales price of $187K ! Now i like cars and always enjoy seeing a good sale ... but for the love of God, what on earth is getting into people to put down that much money for a POS '79 Pontiac. I don't care if it has only 7 miles on the ODO ... that tells me it likely needs a lot of work to bring it to good running condition. The most that Hagerty Insurance quotes for that car is $70K and then it has to be in concours condition.

    I remain amazed ...

    Steve
