Mclaren is the number one competitor to Ferrari? That's news to...Everyone. Lamborghini is and most likely will for many years to come, be the number one competitor.

Mclaren 675LT is the first car I've liked from them. Enjoy.

Lambowhat? No race pedigree, German car, not the most interesting thing to drive, real poser/arrival car. Sorry for me Ferrari is at another level. Maybe when Lambo was Italian.

Still, crappy tub though ; )

I see what you mean now. Yes, for sure, Lambo seems to be a real "arrival" vehicle and Mclaren and Ferrari more technical and exhilarating.

For sales dollars, I thought Lambo has more marketshare than Mclaren? I understand that doesn't equate to performance, just sales.

Don't really care who is a competitor for whom, but I wouldn't be surprised if McLaren annual sales and Lamborghini are not that much different. They sell like 2500-3000 cars a year. I think the 570S will push McLaren sales to around that number as well, though I think they're targeting closer to 4000 if I'm not mistaken.

Congratulations on the 675s to their lucky owners. I really like this car. Its the first car from McLaren that really captures my imagination (P1 included).

CF tub really does serve McLaren well, but when I look at the numbers, I don't really see a huge weight savings advantage until I get to the convertibles. I think for the Spider cars, the CF tub gives you tremendous advantages over aluminum.

I wouldn't say McLaren is only engineering focused and not marketing focused nor would I say Ferrari is only marketing focused and not engineering focused. I think both firms have tremendous engineering depth. Ferrari has been doing this longer and has a larger client base, so you will see a little less focus across their products. But that is something McLaren is going for because that means expanded sales. As fans of cars, I think we should enjoy both and not really bash one or the other.

I actually think the other technologies have their place vs CF tub in road cars. For example, they are easier to repair. But CF is a fascinating technology, no doubt. I just would like to see larger than the roughly 100lbs weight advantage. The advantage would be higher if they used the more expensive and complicated process from F1, but instead they use a different process, optimized for volume production. If they were purely engineering led, they would use this racing derived process. This is the process Ferrari uses for LF. McLaren does not use this process for P1, its the same process and much the same tub as their other cars. Kudos to them for being smart business people, but lets not get carried away when we say they are only engineering led and thus superior.

RMitchell248, that is a wild and amazing spec! I can only imagination your anticipation, I hope the reality exceeds it!

Some great posts and agree (as was my start point) that it's great for Ferrari.

Never seen Lambo as a competitor (small volume and till lately awful gearbox and showy) less so now they have Audi engines. In 12 months time you will feel silly saying Mac is not Ferrari main competitor.

Now Ferrari has shareholders to DIRECTLY account to you will see Mac as able to be purer and lower volume.

Orange 675 above is amazing many congrats.

Agree carbon tub main benefit is Spider rigidity as weight saving not all that - plus sense of occasion with high sills and visible CF (not stuck on fake).

A good buddy of mine picks up this 675LT (coupe version, not spyder) in less than 2 weeks from now. Being registered on March 2016 plates here in UK.

Seems like white is a popular choice, I'm going along to the collection ceremony, should be even more epic in the flesh.

What a car, this 675LT is already available and yet we've still got years to wait before the equivalent car from Ferrari based on the 488 will get close to it.

This is currently one of THE most desirable cars you can(no longer) lay your hands on right now.
