    Hello GT4 Drivers

My father's '76 GT4 nears the end of its restoration and will get new tires shortly.
It is equipped with 80s style BBS wheels (7x16 and 8x16).
The tires sizes are 205/55R16 and 225/50R16.
Both of these changes are recorded in the car's papers.

Would anyone have recommendations regarding the tire brand and type choice?

    Thanks for your replies
    Urs

I doubt the market has changed much since the last 16 in tire thread a few months ago - one big factor is the different brands in different markets

I run like BBS RS1s and have been very happy with the Dunlop Direzza Stars.

Like greyboxer noted, there are numerous threads on this topic already. Everyone has their preference as do I.

I usually use Tire Rack to research tires because they categorize for use purposes and have a large selection. I would either stick with their Max Performance summer tires or Extreme Performance (better rank). Tires by Performance Category at Tire Rack

I am running similar BBS's with the same tire sizes. The 205 and 225 limits selection to get a full matching set - not as many make full range of 16" tires in favor of more low profile tires. I have been running the Bridgestone RE-11 for over a year now and I really like it.

One thing you could look for is whatever is now available and recommended for very early Porsche Boxster which had the same sizes

Thank you Gentlemen for your replies. I will report about the project once the car is street legal again.
