However, as (at least) both Isobel & I have noted, they give out points like confetti these days....... Half the field gets 'em for gawds sake!....... ;)

    A big ask........

If Haas can get close to Mclaren I'd say thats a huge win!

OK, the Honda PU is a POS, but Mclaren have been around a long time. They're no dummies....

Always look forward to a new season! Be it F1, NFL or the EPL; Hope springs eternal. :)

    Cheers,
    Ian

Gene is relatively young with racing experience and has a stable business to help support this team, I'm very optimistic!

Need to get some haas gear ASAP

My suspicion is that they will not score points, but if by chance they actually get close and don't, I'd be thrilled (That's what I meant Ian, worded poorly the first time around) :)

Just being in the hunt for a point would be a huge success. Think back on all the teams that come in,no one scores points!

    Don't forget Romain Grosjean.

He is one of the best assets Haas has, compared to Sauber, Manor, etc...

Sauber right now is using outdated engines, back until mid 2000s they had 1 year old engines, too (back then engines developed at staggering pace yoy, much like 2014>2015>2016).

Haas should be ahead of at least Marussia and Sauber. Brand new engines, suspension from Ferrari and gearbox, dictating where a lot of things should go. Dallara chassis, they're not new to this either...And at least 1 decent driver.

Just with the tires situation for this year, they'll have plenty to learn to get it right.
I'm sure more than one team will have some funny moments with the tires. Now, that is
one aspect, there are hundreds... that come on the fly on during quali, on race day,
the weather, etc. It will trully be a learning year for them.

On the other hand, there will be a race or two when they'll give good surprises and
that will make for the rest of the year.
