Yes, the Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino has finally been recognized at a major national concours judging event, the Cavallino Classic, 25th anniversary this past Saturday, January 23rd, 2016.
It is, as far as I know, unprecedented for a GT4 Dino to win a major award, so forgive me if I boast a bit.

My husband brought my car down to Palm Beach on Friday afternoon. I caught the last flight out of BWI just as they were getting snowed in. There were some torrential downpours in Palm Beach in the late afternoon, but fortunately we arrived in one piece.
Saturday morning was dry, crisp, sometimes windy, but most importantly sunny. My husband was up at the crack of dawn with the other drivers, moving their Ferraris to registration and onto the lawn. For those of you who haven’t witnessed this orchestrated early morning ritual, it is a feat to be witnessed.

In the individual judging, my 1976 Ferrari 308 GT4 Dino serial number 12752 won platinum award in the concours. This year is was tough, as the judges only awarded platinum, 97 points or above. There were no awards for 96 points and below as in the past.
At the awards dinner that night, I was thrilled to have won the platinum award. I was over the moon when later in the evening my car won LA COPPA PER OTTO CILINDRI for Outstanding 8-Cylinder Ferrari of the Cavallino Classic 25! Yeah!

My car joined 4 other 308 GT4’s on the lawn. Of the 5 present, 4 were restored by Al Ierardi. The final GT4 was a fascinating 1980 late serial number car brought in for preservation judging. The 1976 GT4 serial number 11954 black on black ( I call her Black Beauty ) GT4 restored by Al and brought by Salas also won a Platinum award. The black on that car was impeccable. Robert Garven also had a beautiful red on tan GT4 freshly restored. It looked and sounded perfect, so I am not quite sure why it didn’t win a Platinum award too.

I am so thankful for the restoration done by Al Ierardi and his team. I am also, equally grateful for his family’s hospitality and generosity. We got to meet and hang out with the talented Salas. We had a wonderful exciting weekend together at the gorgeous Breakers and finished the weekend off with brunch at Mar-A-Lago amongst a gaggle of vintage racing Alfa Romeos.
This was also the 25th anniversary of the Cavallino Classic for John and Alicia Barnes who were honored at both the evening Cavallino Classic awards dinner and the Mar-A-Largo concours.
I hope you will enjoy the pictures and will join us next year at Cavallino 26!

    a big congrats!

cavallino classics = one of the many bandwagon fans? it took all these decades to finally recognize the 308gt4 is a stellar ferrari after being crapped on for so long.

i sold my 76 euro to Al in 2008-9, last time i talked to him he was restoring it. I wonder if my old car one of the gt4 at the show?

Congratulations. 97 points is quite an accomplishment. You get your score sheet yet?

Who were your 3 judges? I recognize Steve Ahlgrim. Is that Bill Ebert?
