That doesn't look like an OEM cam to me. I have stock cams in my Speciale and they look nothing like that.

It's the aim sport smarty cam hr, rebadged for Ferrari. I have the same camera in my race car. Has a regular sd card in the control unit, which in this installation appears to be mounted upside down. The door is held in place with a small thumb screw at the top (bottom in this installation)

And, just a friendly thought, "really, nobody" after two hours from your original post comes across as very impatient on a public sharing forum. I almost didn't post my answer after reading that part...

    Cheers, Ron.

SmartyCam GP (Ferrari's internal brand/label was Ferrari DataRace).

The unit and camera were sold as a package, the console was available in CF, your colored leather or the grey/black finish of the standard dash.

If anyone is interested, a friend had this in his 458 (camera, unit and CF console), he sold the car and would sell it to a good home.

Video is grabbed off this unit via the SD card, for data you plug your laptop in via a USB cable and use AIM RS2 software for analysis.

Does the smartycam generate files that can be used in rs2? I would have thought you would need a logger such as Evo 4 or such for that.....

We were able to; Peter Krause configured a system for my F430C, which we then transplanted into my daughter's Fiat Abarth race car.

I'll defer to Peter, but we had the unit connected to the CAN bus in the cars and we were able to get the relevant channels.

What I remember is in the 430C, we had to fit an actual brake pressure sensor, for some reason the AIM did not like playing with Marelli on a few data channels (we used negative Glong as a proxy as well).

The hassle was having to pull and download the SD card for video, and use the USB to get the data. IF there was an additional logger (eg. Evo4) in there, I never noticed it. The SmartyCam does have logger capabilities, but IIRC much more limited than the Evo 4.

Makes sense, If the smartycam was connected to the can bus, I can see it getting data. In my application, the smartycam is connected to the evo 4, which is connected to the can bus. Unfortunately, we are not getting all the channels we need as well (guess the AIM doesn't play well with the ecu in my 2007 Lotus), so it looks like we will also need to put in some sensors as well. Been using glong as well, but, as my coach says, that shows what the car did, not what you asked it to do....

    Cheers,

    Ron
