Well I've listed up my 348 spider project to make room for my new Diablo project so I hope it goes to a good home. Sorry to repeat post but this thing has got to go and I hope it goes to someone here. Thanks.

Less then 24 hours left. Over 250 watchers. Hundreds of questions answered and a dozen phone calls later here we are. The real bidding should begin 10 minutes before the end of the auction I'm guessing. I'm hoping....

Can you elaborate? It's really a solid base to a restoration. not wrecked so the frame has never been bent up. All it needs is a bit of assembly. It's an easy restoration compared to some cars if completed. It's worth a lot more in parts then my reserve that's for sure.

Its a big project for sure but every part included is or has potential to be as good as any other 348. Nothing POS...

If I build it I will likely completely strip it of every nut, bolt, panel and screw. Bare metal repaint the entire chassis and reassemble with every single part new or refurbished. I would expect anyone buying it to rebuild to do the same. And this is a very good base to put the time into.
You have to be able to see the potential in things not just the negative. The fender looks like a POS because it has corrosion inhibitor sprayed on it? Well yeah, but you're going to strip the whole car a repaint it anyway.

Anyway, I look at it and all I see is what it can be if I dedicate myself to it.
The person that buys it will probably part it out and make a profit to put in the bank. It will be one more 348 spider we will never get back.

Just the way I like them. :) assembling a car isn't that much different then assembling book shelves from IKEA. It's already been engineered and built, you have a template to follow. When you start to fabricate and create is when things can get complicated. Finding all the parts for the diablo will surely be more of an adventure then bolting them together.

Are you planning to restore the Lambo, or to turn it into a hotrod of some sort?

The plan at the moment is to restore it over several years. I'd like to do it 100% OEM but... The frame, body, suspension, lights, glass, interior etc will be all lambo. The hard part is the drivetrain. Trying to put a Lamborghini drivetrain, wiring, ECUs etc in adds literaly 10s upon 10s of thousands of dollars if I can even find it all. I might use a GM wiring harness, LS3, and porsche g50 trans to get it on the road while I try to collect and rebuild a drive train. The hope would be to someday have it back 100% OEM. It will probably end up costing me more then just buying a decent running early Diablo would but what the heck, it's something to do.

Yeah, I'd think that the LS path would be the most cost effective but it'll likely be a very expensive project no matter which way you choose to go. Good luck!

Yeah, Big money with a capital B. Funds will be the one thing that slows down the build and makes it a multi year project.

Spider was a no sale, I got several offers off line that were close but not quite there. I guess I might have to restore it into one of the best 348 Spiders on the planet just to show Shootfighter what it looks like in my head. :)

I would like to see the Diablo with a built version of the 1995 ZR-1 engine, twin cams and all. Calloway had one I think.

What are your plans for the Diablo?

It looks to be in the same condition as the first 355 chassis I purchased for my own project.

Are you going to rebody/ re engineer back to original or use it as the base of a special/unique car?

Can you start a project thread on it down in the special projects section for us :)

    Please see post #12 :)

I was planning to do a thread in the Lamborghini chat section. I should have it inside soon and will be able to start something on it in earnest.
