What are US buyers seeing for wait time on a F12?
Hi Mark, That is disappointing news, as I have read that you have owned numerous Ferraris in the past and I would think you have some clout. As a future resident of NE Florida ( in 7 months), I am thinking that perhaps my upcoming F12 order will be even slower as I have never owned a Ferrari before. Sigh, Dave M.
My order was placed on 17 July. As of mid January it had not even reached Status 10. I canceled my order and ordered an Aston Vanquish on 27 January. Three days later I received a 29 April build date. Vive la difference!!!
My order was submitted to the factory computer system in mid June and pulled/ accepted on September 5th. I think the major delay for mine ( at least I hope) is the fact that I ordered a Tailor Made car with lots of special paint and leather options. At least they've recognized the order. Just glad I will eventually get one. The allocations appear to be slowing to a trickle. My dealer mentioned something like 2-3 F12 allocations this year in total. Honestly, who knows as the factory is a bit opaque on all of this. Nevertheless, I remain enthralled with Ferraris in spite of all the company's idiosyncrasies😊
Have you placed the order yet?? May want to go ahead. Given the fact that F12 deliveries have slowed to a trickle, may make sense to pull the trigger soon. Good luck!!
Couple of things, the factory is shut in August as you know plus Tailor Made can add months to a build depending on what you have. I presume when you say your order was submitted mid-June that was after you'd completed the Tailor Made process of approving designs etc. Once you approve the designs and place your order I don't think they confirm it until they have locked in all the little details you've asked for. Then it's longer to have those things done. Just having coloured carbon can add 3-4 months.
Absolutely. We actually did the Tailor Made session in Maranello in June of 2014 and submitted our final rendering/spec in June of 2015. The factory acknowledged the order (went Status 10) September 2015. It remains at Status 10 as of now.
TDF, 488 in early cycle, Cali T still fairly fresh and new FF on the way. f12 the oldest car in process.........
Production numbers of the F12 are tiny (hundreds not thousands per year) so its not that it has slowed to a trickle - as observed above some dealers are only getting 2 or 3 a year - albeit implicitly this has decreased since launch - presumably to preserve value to some extent And right now the V12 line is busy with new FF & Tdf - don't forget the limiteds can be viewed as just a way of keeping the lines busy at the end of a model's production run
Thanks, but I'm still deciding on interior colors. I'd like some sort of a two-tone brown, with the darker brown (maybe iroko or ciacolotto?) on the dash. Any recommendations? Anyone? I was toying around with a bordeaux/brown combination, but the salesman at Algar in Philadelphia might have talked me out of it. The bordeaux is still too light of a red for the interior. He might be right. I still think it might look good for a the luxury GT look I am going for, if I use the bordeaux sparingly. But I really need a darker red for the interior to make it work, I think. Exterior color probably either a Rubino/Fuoco/Maranello type of color.
Did they offer Tailor Made in Maranello?? I cannot recommend that experience enough. Many choices not offered even through the dealer atelier program and you are flanked by a factory designer as you make your choices. Do it if you can.
We cross posted, and I added on to my edited post above. I am no longer in Algar's sales area, now that I have moved to south Jersey fpr the next few months. So now it is either Ferrari of Central New Jersey or Ferrari of Orlando, Florida. I wonder if they both get the same allocations?
Agreed. My dealer tells me they have gotten only a few F12 allocations in the past few months and while they haven't been told they have the feeling they will have fewer over the next year. (That last part could be simply "dealer talk").
That sounds a bit optomistic to me. I went six months with no horizon in sight before cancelling having never reached Status 10 . It is more than strange that they can not offer a build date, or at least an estimate once an order is placed. I believe that this is indicicative of their capriciousness. Surely they know how many orders they have, how long it takes to build a car, and at what rate they will be building them, tailor made notwithstanding. Using Marks car as an example, surely it can not possibly take that much time to assemble the "special" components. My car was essentially an off the shelf build yet they chose to put TDF's ahead of it eventhough these cars were not even officially announced until months after my order went in...Marks order predated mine. This is not my idea of proper business practice.
Perhaps a different perspective, but I see it as a more respectful view of their clientele. Is Ferrari truly incapable of projecting a build date at the time a car is ordered or do they just not concern themselves with customer interests. I have been a loyal Ferrari fan over the years and my F12 would have been my ninth one, but I have not previously been so put off by their insouicance. Clearly, my absence in their queue will have absolutely no impact on them overall, as I am have no doubt that there are quite a number behind me anxious to take my place. Given this, I see myself as far better off with Aston even though I am deeply disappointed to pass on the F12... and the Vanquish gives away virtually nothing to the F12 within the realm of reasonable (=responsible) every day use on public roads.
Given the stock performance due to poor earnings it would be good for the shareholders and board to read this thread. It is hard to grow earnings without delivering cars.
