I totally agree with you on their arrogance in such matters and no other company could get away with it, but then it's almost like you need to go through this aggravation, this difficulty to buy to make the event even more special.

Sorry but, having driven both, the Aston and F12 are simply not comparable although they are both GTs, much as I support a great British brand. They are desperate for sales of their 20 year old constantly tinkered with and embellished platform and shape and thankfully they hopefully now have the cash they have long needed to bring something fresh and exciting to the table. It is, however, to many eyes, externally a very beautiful shape.

I hate to suggest this but it is probably your dealer they can submit a build but when the dealer gets the allocation it is up to the dealer to decide who's order to activate. I know when i submitted my order (a 2015) i was told they would activate it next allocation so it went active very quickly the dealer may have had other orders in que but they had agreed to activate mine next .... (of course i had put pressure on him to do so)..
just a point.. now could be out of line but i would think once the factory gives a slot to the builder they know exactly when they will build it....

Was thinking something similar. The dealer may even had promised your slot to someone else along the line and waited you out. Just speculation but it did cross my mind. Sometimes it seems so arbitrary that it makes you wonder there's not something else going on. Congrats on your new Aston!

Perhaps I misspoke. Obviously they are very different cars, but for my intended use they are equally attractive in their own way, each with its own distinct and separate great qualities...no winner or looser, just different.

    Congratulations Pesto

The vanquish is more beautiful from anywhere you look, the cabin feels more refined and for normal road use the car is more comfortable and the handling is very well balanced.
Luggage space is also better .

Performance wise, the F12 is in a different league, far more aggressive and capable.

Your conclusion is correct, F12 extra performance is not applicable on public roads.

Both top level cars, history , pedigree, craftsmanship, quality all in the same level..

I would try to involve Q at aston martin, they can offer way more than what you usually see in terms of interior specs...
    Good luck to you.

I really just don't understand Ferrari's motives here. Is this deliberate or incompetence? We are in a global deceleration and you have customers waiting for product that seems to be abundant in most parts of world but not in US. Clearly they could allocate more to customers in US if they wanted to. Maybe it is genius. They are getting us all whipped up into a frenzy because we all want what we can't have.

#1 Congratulations on your new Aston Martin! What a beautiful car!

#2 Sadly, I agree with the posters thinking this is likely a dealer issue.

I will add that given the strength of the dollar it is much better to sell cars to try US market now.

I must apologize for apparently having comandeering this thread. That said, the responses have been extremely interesting and informative. I have had a long and cordial relationship with my sales rep at Ferrari Palm Beach and would be saddened (astonished) to find that I had in effect been pushed aside; with all due respect to all who have suggested this, I am curious but remain unconvinced.

I would also like to thank you for your kind words regarding the Vanquish; it was not easy to walk away from the F12 that I had speced out.

Unfortunately the Ferrari world is littered with stories such as yours. How could I truly know of your situation. I cannot. But Upon reading the fact pattern you present it recalls similar outcomes I and others I know have experienced. So hopefully it is not the case, but you know when you hear someone else's experience and you begin nodding your head in understanding... I'm nodding my head... So it is their loss and you now have a beautiful Aston. What color did you pick?

It is to be painted Chiltern green, an Aston historic color, and will be mostly kestrel inside with a few green acents and green carpets, red calipers and no back seat.
    Thanks for asking.

    Douglas,

You will love it. I was on the Aston site this evening playing with colors, options, etc. Plus, you'll have it to enjoy when I am still at Status 10 on the F12 list😊

Hello, I just this week cancelled my F12 order with Ferrari of Palm Beach, following the sudden and mysterious departure of my salesman. I placed the order last April I believe, and have assumed that the "list" does not in fact exist and that preference in allocations would be give to longstanding clients. Once upon a time I benefitted from that practice, so I could hardly complain; the F12 would have been my first FoPB purchase and I've done this long enough to know that my 15 or so purchases from another Ferrari dealership wouldn't matter here. It's a game one either plays or doesn't and IMO it shouldn't be taken too seriously. Ferrari has never seemed to me to care all that much about its retail, easily replaced clienti. Enjoy your beautiful Vanquish.

I always liked the Derwent Green on the 1998 Project Vantage shown at the Detroit auto show. Interestingly Aston Martin still has that model on display.
Congrats on ordering a new Aston Martin with a timely delivery date!

My interior is iRoko (brown) and cuoio with CF racing seats. The dash is iRoko. We used brown CF everywhere and have deviating stitching. I am very happ how it came out. In addition we used the body color, Bianco Italia, on the horizontal surfaces Car was originally ordered September 2014 and I received the first week of this January. Special touches added substantially time to the process.

For what it may be worth this is from the Ferrari,NV year end statement for 2015:

"Shipments of the 12 cylinder models (V12) were down 24% as the F12berlinetta and the FF are respectively in their 4th and 5th year of commercialization, and the F12tdf shipments started in December 2015. "
