Yep, it sure looks like they had the car a few weeks ago. I was told by our absent historian (WB) that the car is now in Greece. I now have an email into Thiesen. Do any of you know of a good contact there at Thiesen, i.e. someone who returns emails? FGM
A few days ago not weeks, Francis you should know about the world's number one classic car show. Retromobile was February 3 to 7. If this is the one I saw last week it was for years in the Loheac Manoir de l'automobile museum of French car media tycoon Michel Hommel. I saw it there in 2007. I was his magazine's US correspondent back in the late 1990's It was funny because just as I visited the museum -hundreds of miles west of Paris where he works- he happened to be there showing it to local politicians so he had me do a little impromptu Maser presentation for them, in this huge 300 car museum in the middle of nowhere in a village in far far western France I had a quick chat with him at the show last week and he is really tired...not sure when he sold it, I tried to buy it in about 2008 or 9 for a client but no go. I believe I saw the car at the German Techno Classica show in 2010 too, on the booth of Michel Pund of la galerie des damiers of Northern France. MS PS: If you put please and thank you in your emails you will get better results and more answers, particularly in Europe, as I told you when we met 2 or 3 years ago in Burgundy.
Oh yes, and thank you Marc. So kind of you to forward the information on 058. I still need to confirm where the car is at present. I do not recall you mentioning that in Burgundy when we met, but it does make good sense and being the gentleman that I am, I should make a better effort to follow your suggestion. Thanks again to you, Wolf and Boudewijn. Ciao, FGM
You are welcome Francis, our old world likes old fashioned formalities and if they don't know you they are more likely to answer that way. Thiesen is not showing the car in its Maser inventory, not even as sold, they may have just had it on one time shot consignment at Retromobile -a common situation- but if you have a buyer they will be able to create a lone of communication. Thiesen - Our vehicle range Best regards, Marc
Marc, I do not have a recent mail to reach you. Could you kindly get in touch with me by a private mail? Thank you. Franco [email protected]
Äh, number one(b), number one (a) is Techno Classica . If Thiesen provides buyers information upon third parties request, this would be a reason for many past and potential future buyers never ever to buy from Thiesen, even if this third party has begged on his/her knees and sung tempting songs .... So, a "please" and "thank you in advance" might max. trigger a polite negative response, imho. If they provide an answer without the prior explicite allowance of the new owner, please let all of us know so that we are aware how Thiesen deals with confidential information... Cheers, Bernhard
Hello Bernhard, To each his own opinion, I fully respect yours but find Techno Classica is mostly an accumulation of cars for sale a show lacking the style, class of Retromobile, bigger is not always better, I will take a jewel box over a shoe box any day Oh and Essen, all rebuilt post war, cannot exactly compete with Paris for what is outside the show can it? Of course you and I are equally biased too;-) In such cases as Francis's enquiry it goes without saying that any respectable dealer such as Thiessen would simply relay his enquiry to the owner IF they feel it is a qualified serious enquiry, NO dealer would indeed just provide the owner's contact information. It is the same when contacting famous or important people: you simply find their secretary, present your credentials and explain why you wish to be in touch. That is how for an RM catalog Biography of a Birdcage I once had a call "Hello this is Lord Alexander Hesketh you wish to speak with me?" or another, "Hi Marc this is Jay Leno" who was calling me from the middle of the night in Los Angeles. Etc. But we are off topic sehr off topic, ja? So back on: here is 058 at the Artcurial Le Mans Classic auction 2010. Sport & GTs au Mans Classic - Sale N° 1855 - Lot N° 153 | Artcurial Best regards, Marc
Marc, Many thanks for the link and great photos of the car. You will all see my interest in the car very soon. Ciao, FGM
Hello Franco: When I see pictures of that Allemano 5000 GT and recollect his A6G series Maseratis - I wish Maserati had entrusted more of their GT car design to that studio/carrozzeria. Cheers, Colin
To those of you who appreciate this type of minutia please read on. The rest of you can hit the next button. I have in my collection of Maserati memorabilia 3 items delivered with AM103.058 on June 10 1964. A very original uso E Manutenzione Manual 17 pages and in excellent condition. A Garanzia E Assistenza booklet Registered to the first owner Joaquin Valls Quintana As delivered by Auto Paris of Barcelona. It is my hope that these documents can be reunited with the car and forever be a part of the history of 058. I would be thankful for someone to translate for us what the note says inside the manual as shown in the photo below. Colin, Although Serafino Allemano owned Carrozzeria Allemano established in 1928 and closed in 1965. It was Giovanni Michelotti who penned what we remember as the better designs. Franco Scallion (one of my favorites) also did some freelance work for the company. Carrozzeria Scaglietti also designed many cars that were badged Allemano. You are correct in that Maserati would have benefited by a closer association. You have to admit the company did pretty good with Frua and Italdesign. Ciao, FGM
I think you are right, here is a photo: http://www.ferrari-world.be/Events%202010/Techno%20classica%202010/Maserati/images/Techno%20Classica%202010%20Maser%2035.jpg
Bedankt AMLC that is it, I was a bit distracted that week as my book on the Ferrari Breadvan was unveiled at that show with the Breadvan present but yes that is it. Christophe Pund is a very nice guy, specially for a car dealer Each time I see that car I look at the wonderfully designed sticker of Auto Paris, here is another photo I took last week: half racer's helmet, half Gent's hat It perfectly symbolises the spirit of Maserati Granturismo.
