There should be plenty of buyers that are interested in getting a steel carb GTB for 75% of the price of the Vetroresina one could think... Skickat från min D5803 via Tapatalk
Number are; 308 GTB (Fiberglass) 1975 1977 808 (s/n 18677 21289) 308 GTB (Steel) 1977 1980 2185 (s/n 20805 34329) 208 GTB 1980 1982 160 (s/n 31219 41329) 308 GTBi 1980 1982 494 (s/n 31327 43059) 308 GTB QV 1982 1985 748 (s/n 42809 59071) So 3093 GTB's in Steel, and 808 in Glass....rarity seems to drive prices for these kinds of cars. But the $300K+ glass car is encouraging....
Either that or that it's the first version of the 308 (equally to prices of 206 compared to 246). Regardless, it doesn't make sense to pay more than double. After all, it's 712 made, not 71. Skickat från min D5803 via Tapatalk
But not all of those 2185 Steel GTBs are Euro or Dry Sump - only what 211 RHD Euro Dry Sump Steellies Makes a difference.......
I also think its a question of how many actually remain, perhaps more than how many were built. Vetros were chopped up and used for racing in fairly large numbers (certainly in the UK) many of these will have been wrecked or are beyond reasonable cost of restoration. of the 154 RHD vetros, i think it would be fair to assume that 20-30% no longer exist, so you are quickly down to 100-115 cars ..... Maybe less than 550 cars remain globally, if you apply a similar approach to the total number built (assuming it is 808 and not 712!).... perhaps its this that are driving the prices for the best examples with Classiche etc.. with the UK carb dry sump RHD steel, there were a few more built, but you also of course have to factor in rust as the grim reaper, that will have taken many of the number away over almost 40 years ..... i am going to guess there are maybe less than 160 of those kicking about and not all will be in top condition, I'm sure! BR, Jez
Yep, i believe its around 1300 Euro/Dry Sump steel and 808 (or 712?) Vetro's were built ...how many are left out there 40 years later ? As Jez says above. Perhaps our guru Nerofer might have a view on this?
Think you probably have to include the dry sump GTS in there as well as I don't think it's obvious that people pay more for GTB? So, if we are all using the same data sources, it's 2185+3219 of which 40% (?) must have been wet sump and/or heavier US versions. Leaves approx 3250 dry sump steel cars? of which 395 were UK rhd. It all depends on where the price for the Vetros settles, but "double" seems a more than adequate premium for a rarer car that is mechanically identical. And if the dry sumps go up, the Euro QVs will be next. 307 GTS/B QV uk rhd. Low miles QV GTS went for £105 all in last night at Artcurial. The gap between Vetro, dry sump, Euro QV and the rest will likely get bigger. I have seen this with Porsches. And at the price point 308s are at now, very few will have been properly sorted. It's not economical to take a well-worn car and do all the work CORRECTLY if it's only an £80/100k car. But there will be some out there that have been loved and cared for by passionate owners irrespective of the laws of capitalism, and thank God for that. They are probably not commanding the right premium yet as dealers seem to place all 308 cars of a certain model within a £20k band. You don't get much done to a shabby Ferrari of any model for £20k retail.
Please do your homework first. There are no dry sump 308 gts the approx 1100 steel dry sump GTB are the only dry sump ones, beside the dry sump vetro's (fyi, not all vetro's are dry sump btw)
Today at the Bremen Classic Motorshow, newly (complete) rebuilt for over 100k. Offered for 169k Best wishes Markus

Apologies. I have been reading the Bluemel book and it's really not made clear in there. Though I now see it is on Wikipedia is. Should have just gone there first! All part of the learning process. Thanks for setting me straight.
Nah! It was appropriate... Still, you scared him over to becoming a wikipedophile to get the answers he needed instead of searching F Chat.
Got to $99k at first listing but buyer walked.. Ferrari 308 GTB | eBay second listing up to $78,100 with ~3-days to go.
Yes, it has the potential for a total resoration. Lots of visable rust means much more where you can't see. Maybe for 50 - 60k a good car, but after that no way. JMO.
Does anyone know if a car, any car came out of this place in decent condition? I have been to their facility and seems like they have everything nobody wanted. So they bought them. Not my property so all the luck to them in the sale efforts but pricing is not even close to reasonable. They have a Turbo 930 from the 80s damaged on teh right side and asking 40k. salvage title also. THis 308 is nice thought being a GTB and in white.
No matter what you think people buy his cars. He advertised all over and pays that day. So he is a good buyer for people that want money now.
I bought a couple from them. They put them on a lift, you can take your time and inspect them. There are a lot of projects, some in better condition than others.
This car is in remarkable shape as unrestored, in better shape than mine was also more expensive. A perfect candidate for a complete restoration.
