Very interesting as I thought the Pirelli P7’s were an option for 1976 RoW Turbos. With P7’s standard, they all had the 930/32 gearbox, 930.641.501.00 speedometer, and 50 series tire engine bay decal.

Also my COA lists Pirelli tires, car must have been originally equipped with CN36's.

1976 U.S. Turbo Carrera's with optional Pirelli tires would be CN36's. My '75 COA also lists Pirelli tires as an option and since it has a 930/30 gearbox, it was equipped with CN36 tires.

I wish Pirelli would remake the 215/60VR15 CN36 tires. I have a pair of NOS 185/70VR15 Pirelli CN36 tires but could only find a used set of 215/60VR15's...probably only safe for under 50 mph.

1976 Turbo Carrera, chassis # 9306800143 for sale at Symboic.

The exceptional photo set includes: 930/30 gearbox # without limited slip (no "12" in sequence); and seldom seen DOM '76+ lighted key.

Wow. That's impressive. Glad another car will presumably be rescued.

    VIN 9306700405

With $100,000 restoration which it will easily take, that's an aggressive price.

I never saw the car Vargas. I am all set on 76's although I still do covet finding a 1975...

    1975 Seattle Porsche Parade trim, 8 x 9 x 15’s installed and out for a drive…

Just a few things I love about the 930: easy do-it-yourself tire/wheel change in less than an hour; starts on the first crank after sitting for over a month; 40-year old car with no rattles and no reliability drama.

I used aluminum tire valve stems on the Fuchs to be period-correct. The RSR’s used the same metal stems as the 917. When Porsche introduced the 1975 Turbo, they fitted rubber valve stems but added aluminum stem supports. This minimized the flexing of the valve stems due to centrifugal force at high speeds. The 1975 Turbos that left the factory in 1974 may not have had the valve stem supports fitted.

love it! especially with the wide 15's and the white script... reminds me a little of the 73 turbo paris/frankfurt car.

porsche cost cutting measures used a spacer to utilize a shared wheel. too bad they didnt offer those wonderful deep dish rsr type wheels on the standard car as an option.

    Rich,
Congrats! The combination of the new wheels/tires looks neat. The aluminum stem supports in stock wheel configuration always added a special look to the 930.

OgreMagi, hyenahf, & 930, thanks much - I doubt that any 3-liter Turbos left the factory with 8 x 9 x 15 Fuchs but it’s quite possible that a metallic silver Turbo was optioned with white Porsche door script. No doubt some other interesting Turbo graphic/Porsche script colors were custom-fitted to a handful of cars.

    Next project...getting my vintage Pirelli CN36 tires mounted on the 7 x 8 x 15 Fuchs.

    Thanks Phil

I bought a set of valve stem supports on Pelican for my '79 930 after a tire shop removed the support from the passenger front wheel during tire repair :(

P7's are tough enough to find..Cn36 will be harder to locate? I recall a couple places had them but not sure in 930 sizes.

cn will add a really cool vintage look but in my experince the P7 are a much better tire. cn's in the wet is a deathwish. i wonder what size dunlops racing tires was shown on the 73 pairs car?
