Question to Miura owners - did you guys like the Miura Concept car? and would you have bought one if it was produced?

    Correct.

For many years through the late 70s, 80s and into the 90s, the only replacement front hoods available from the San't Agata works were SV units, so there are a number of earlier cars running around with these on, including 4767.

I like the Miura concept that was done, but would not like to see another car produced under the Miura name. Likewise with the Countach name.

Speaking of which, did someone ever found out wether the wreck that is tossed in the river at the end of that scene, was a real chassis, and what happened to it afterwards?

In November we purchased a very late production 72 Miura SV. The car has a very interesting and funny history including being owned by Captain Arthur Mechin. We immediately began a very strategic restoration to preserve its originality while also restoring the paint and going through the entire mechanical! Wanted to share a few teaser shots from January during the first stage which included installing an original Becker Mexico radio. Hopefully she will be done March 20th for its public debut at the Miami Beach Concours.

"Letter of the month" in this month's Octane (154, April '16) is worth a read.

Further to Olivier's comments about there being more than one racing Miura, it's from a gentleman called Toly Arutunoff who raced his Miura in '67/8.

It's great stuff -- he figured the oil starvation problem in hard turns was actually just centrifugal force acting on the needle. He also "saw 7200 RPM and still climbing, which was somewhere near 180mph; I lifted when a crosswind gust through a gap in the trees moved the nose a couple of feet."

    Respect!

Maybe a repost, but a nice period footage though!

Salon Automobile de Genève / Genève / Suisse / 1966 | SD Stock Video 592-037-635 | Framepool Stock Footage

From 00:35 to 00:47 we can see the Miura on the Bertone stand.
From 00:43 to 00:47 we can see Ferruccio Lamborghini and Gianpaolo Dallara talking in front of the TP400 chassis. The steering wheel is not the one of the Turin motorshow but the first Miura steering wheel. We also can see a BMW stand in the background. Don't know where it was shot.

The last part with a proud Ferruccio at the wheel of a 400 GT is also very nice, it might have been taken in Geneva, maybe on the Pont du Mont-Blanc.

    Thank-you Lel for your input.

So, this met.green Miura is in fact a P400 upgraded with some S features (powered windows, S/SV roof console, chrome trims, S badge, etc...) but yes, still with some of its original P400 specs as its early RHS front bonnet grille (the one for the access to the fuel tank cap) and the rear bonnet locks levers in the door entry / B-pillar...

Also, many color changes from its original livery Yellow paint + Blue interior !...

I personally interviewed Toly via phone for my Miura book http://joesackeyclassics.com/authored-books/the-lamborghini-miura-bible/ about a decade ago, and his story of his adventures with Bob Wallace at Sant Agata, and his ordering the P400 directly from Dallara are in there.

Apparently, Dallara promised to build the Miura with a roll-bar, but the car arrived without it! Toly picked the car up from the Port in the USA (New Orleans I recall) and drove it home to Oklahoma clocking 175 mph on the way.

He told me the car was a very poor racer, terrible brakes and temperamental. He confessed his racing adventures only got going when he bought a Lancia Stratos.

I'm not sure I'd use that description, although I do like the color.

They actually cut  the rear hood to accommodate an aftermarket exhaust!

RHD Miura S in Verde Miura is being sent to Sant' Agata to get a full restoration. I guess it will be a one year job.

    Thanks for the answer!

I wish they did a modern Countach Concept - I liked the Miura concept because it kept a lot of the original car. I guess if you look hard enough at the Murcielago, you would see Diablo, Miura and Countach combined. I don't think a modern Countach would look as great as did the Miura Concept did. Goes to show how timeless the Original Miura design is!

The only Miura S in the Indonesia, sold in 2003 to the current owner, after many restoration attempts, finally the owner decided the car will be sent back to Sant' Agata Bolognese for a full rebuild. The car was Verde Miura, then repainted white since the 70s, now back in Verde Miura.
Due to the complexity of re-exporting a car and importing it back to Indonesia, it is wiser to send it back to the factory rather that to US restorers because the arrangement and paperworks are done by the authorized Lambo distributor down here.

I will try to get the chassis number.

I reckon the process is gonna be about one year. So anyone who goes to the factory will be able to see it.

How is the accuracy of Lambo's own restoration shop Joe ?
