    Your 't' looks fantastic Allen!

I saw that car for sale... Nice find and congrats on the purchase! I'm practically in your backyard in Essex county. Once we get a good soaking rain and the salt washes away we should meet up.

Yes I love the Ferrari. But the 911 Turbo! The Ferrari can not hold a candle to its speed and handling. Of course the Porsche is 20 years newer. I think they are both just sweet looking rides.

Time to change the gearbox oil. It's only been a couple of hundred miles since I last had it changed, but it was a nice day to be in the garage with the radio on and I've had the oil sitting around for a few years. I'm switching to synthetic and plan on doing another change in 50 miles or so just to make sure all of the old dinosaur juice is flushed out.

Be sure to let us know if it cures the troublesome 2nd gear selection when cold issue

Knock on wood, but my car has always pretty easily gone into 2nd. I can feel a difference when the car is cold, but it goes in without forcing it. I generally, however, do skip second until the car has had a chance to warm up in order to save wear and tear.

2nd gear was very, very stiff when cold. Sometimes, it felt like I was going to break the shift lever. When I changed the gearbox oil, with Redline, it became buttery smooth - hot or cold.

Now, it's been a year, and about 1000 miles. 2nd has become somewhat stiffer. Not as buttery smooth as when first changed, but no-where near as stiff as it originally was.

Are those Antique Plates? Or Classic Plates?

If Antique - has there been any hassles from the local police?

I'm thinking about putting Antique on one of my Karmann Ghias (The Mondial has a custom plate).

Sid, when I bought the car I put regular TX plates on it. The inspection process was a disaster. The inspector failed the car because it had an air-horn. (I guess air-horns aren't allowed in TX.) I spent 15 minutes explaining that the older Italian cars came from the factory with air-horns. I finally demanded to speak with his manager, at which point he passed the car just to get rid of me. I mentioned here on FChat about the pain in getting the car inspected and someone recommended the Antique Plate. It's great! No more inspection and the plate lasts 5 years.

The police have never bothered me. The rules for the Antique Plate states that you can drive the car to and from public events (car shows), and for maintenance purposes. Well, with the Mondial, every drive is for maintenance! (Seriously... to keep everything working properly you have to drive the car.) I figure that if I'm every stopped I can truthfully say that I'm testing some fix, driving the car to keep everything lubricated, etc.

Does anyone else love the juxtaposition of the Ferrari against the amish horse and buggies?

I have 3 cars with antique plates, 2 NJ and 1 PA. I drive the cars to work every once in a while, never been a problem, just drive conservatively. I have had the PA plate since 2001 and put 20k miles on the car. Don't sweat it. Most cops are cars guys. I have been stopped with my cars about 3 times, never got a ticket, always "what year?", "Had it long?", "please drive slower". and then of course "Thank you officer!"

Here is my picture from today. Felt great to have her out. Drove like a dream.

I was being a wise guy meaning we took her to visit her relatives. Really wanted a picture of the car next to a buggy but washing horse poop of the wheels and tires was not what I wanted to be doing the rest of the day. Hope you enjoyed it.
