I have a friend who was required to buy a used 550 in order to get on the list, at that time, for a new 599. He had to travel from west coast to east coast to see the car and then had it shipped to him.

...and if he still has the 550 he will have done very well indeed!

And I have several friends who have had that happen to them, being required to take FF's and Californias to get the Speciales and the TDF F12 etc, and I said so in my post and he still called it 'tosh'. Additionally, the subsequent posts had the subject fellow freely admit he had to buy his FF to get his Speciale. In fact I tried to get a friend on the list for a 488 just last week and they required he take a California first.

So there's nothing to debate- It happens all over the place. They have cars with oversupply and cars that are in demand, and it's just how they work it out. It's no insult to anyone, it's just business.

But it does distort initial market values on FF"s and that was my only point.

you will absolutely not be disappointed with the car - the thing is a dream to drive and carries great balance with it. If you around the nyc metro area id be happy to show you what one with 22k miles feels and looks like. Actually wwofcars has my car right now showing another customer the novitec etc.

    100% on the mark guys.

Anyone who likes a Rubino 599 can't be completely devoid of good taste:D That was one beautiful car Piper had there.

FWIW, I think it's poor form to on one hand say design is subjective, and on the other all while telling others how wrong they are for not liking the same thing. Yes, the FF is polarizing and that makes sense as it is a unique design. PF can do amazing work, and IMHO they can do some truly horrendous blunders as well. They are not the end all be all of car design. Case in point? The Hyundai Matrix.

To praise the FF and at the same time completely bash the Cali T, especially on an engineering level is just bizarre. If one is truly objective neither are ugly or poorly designed cars, and the Cali T is certainly not an engineering abomination! I completely fail to see what makes someone who makes a living doing audio mastering, an artist and expert in the field of automotive design - and how that gives the right to criticize others for their taste as if their opinion is worth less and they are "just" low brow Viagra eating knuckle draggers. That is truly some of the most arrogant nonsense I've seen here lately. The defensiveness of some comes across as if they fear the new, and fear that others will think what they have are less interesting and worth less. It's especially odd to read some of the harsh words being hurled at the GTC4 considering most of us haven't seen the car in person yet, and often the Ferrari renderings are not the best to say the least.

At the end of the day none of us have a crystal ball - and none of us knows how time will treat neither the FF or the GTC4 over the next 30 years. Things right now are evolving so rapidly it is hard to compare 30 years back with 30 years forward.

Let's just hope they find a way to keep the V12 non-turbo.

    Upwards and onwards.:)

As in the UK one has to be careful not to judge the market base by examples at the Bon marche end of the spectrum. Most of these are either high mileage hacks with multi ownership or really odd spec. Typical is one in the UK in Titanio, not a bad colour at all, with pale grey alcantera/leather interior and basic spec. Not one that would get many juices going. Another had chocolate interior everywhere, dash, roof seats, carpets, steering wheel, it was like death by chocolate. Go up in price by 7 to 10% and you get good provenance, average mileage and popular colour combos. So to sum up my opinionated outburst the bottom is there to reflect the worst choice available. Good cars always attract buyers hence better prices. Set your budget at 10% above the lowest and you will find your dream.

Don't forget that these cars are the best engineered cars Ferrari has produced, they are not turkeys and with GTC4 Lussos coming on the second hand market in ............Jan / March 2018 at only say 20% max below top dollar new price the FF will hold up very well.

1st, Thank you for your service.. your sacrifice can't be understated.

2nd, I made no such personal attack.. completely unfounded. I responded to a statement to MoeD but at no time did I address you or make a personal attack on anyone.

It's ironic. The FF haters are everywhere. Rude without even knowing it. A few posts about the Lusso being less than elegant and they protest. Too much. Group think really brings out the mean in people. Unique cars are not for everyone. Red Ferrari anyone? lol The FF is a unique car for unique people. If you don't like it this thread is not really for you, nor is this part of the forum. The new Lusso is very square, trying to beef up the FF looks for those that need the beefy. And we now know for a fact that the Lusso grille was designed by Ferrari to be intimidating. So that's exactly as I have been saying, "trying too hard", or "macho". I thought the macho brand was Lambo.

Anyway, if you like the GTC4 by all means, get one asap and drive it hard. Feel free to skip over my FF preference, and skip the FF bashing on the FF threads like this one.

    100% agree.
Except for the chocolate reference. I've got a grigo car with brown interior and I love it. But then I love chocolate quite a lot....

The cheapest uk on the car was a sliver and blue car. Sounds fine but the blue was a bit odd, and rather too much....

I too like the chocolate leather in contrast to say black dash, wheel, carpet etc but the one I was referring to was CHOCOLATED TO DEATH. You would have to love chocolate quite a lot.......

My personal view of the FF's rear quarter is that it photographs very, very badly. It's not as bad in person. For me, I bought an FF because the cabin quality and build was a generation ahead of the 612 and I'm a fan of the front end design.

I would also say that the front end of the 612 doesn't photograph well either, but it's impressive looking in the person. The design has aged very well.

For me, the most beautiful 2+2 is the 456.

I've got plenty of carbon and black carpet etc so don't think death by chocolate will be my fate... But if I had to go it probably would be fairly high up the list of options....

The 456 is beautiful, I wanted to buy one before getting the manual 612... But once I sat in the cabin and saw the interior, it looked 20 years older than the 612...

I like both, they both have good and no so good elements, I have no preference. Just glad there's still 12 cylinders

If I had a use for a FF I'd have one this week, actually I'd have had one long ago. They are fantastic cars. I just don't need one, I have too many cars that do what a FF can do and it wouldn't get driven much.

    Hope your good sir!,

    Best
    Eric :)

Thanks for this info. That must have been the car Marshall Goldman had advertised at $155K a couple weeks ago. It's no longer on their website. FF values seem to have been tanking rapidly. Good for me, I am hopefully about to pull the trigger in the next couple months.

I am right there with you. Time is on our side. I want a nice example with the options I am looking for. It's just hard when many folks understandably want today's market prices for a car that is on a downward trend fast. Even a good deal on an FF now will be an average deal in a few months. Things will undoubtedly level off once more GTC4 Lusso's are out there, but during this process I've learned that I better get an FF I really want as getting rid of one seems to be no easy feat, even at the right price. Two other FFs (a low mile 2014 and a 20k mile 2012 didn't sell at the same auction). There is far more supply than demand at present. When the alternative daily drivers like Cayenne/Panamera TTs, Range Rovers, X5M's etc all deliver a hell of a value for half the price.

The gentleman who I purchased my 612 from last year is selling his lightly optioned FF and wants $170k for an 8k mile 2012, but even if I could get it for $150k (which I did offer a few months ago) it would still be hard to sell at that price anytime soon. I know many later model Ferrari's are declining assets for the first 7-10 years or so, and I can tolerate some depreciation for the enjoyment of owning it, I just can't tolerate a free fall lol.
