There is also a 599 in Hawaii. Other manual cars. There is a 575 in Scottsdale and one going across the block at RM in Amelia Island. Also there is a 575 at carriage house back east. These are all manuals. There are two 430s that I found. One in Florida and one in Washington. One coupe...one Spyder. They just all cost too much.

What if you bought his 911 but never met him?

why what different does it make I notice you seem to have a real issue with SD ... It seems like you go to a lot of trouble and time to make him prove every post.. why who cares.. I don't think anyone has to prove they are an owner or anything else for every post ... It seem these value threads of which there are several get real personal...
don't have any proof and not really looking to cause a argument just looking at this from a different perspective...
If someone says they are X thats fine with me...it is the internet .....

The big question is this: How many enthusiasts are paying the current premiums for modern 3 pedal models vs those that are buying thinking they'll cash in? In other words, are the escalating prices bringing buyers in who a year or two ago had no interest? If the answer is the second group, then today's prices are vulnerable to a big correction. Once this crowd sees prices are no longer going up and cars get hard to sell, they'll abandon ship. I don't claim to know the answer to the first question, just putting it out there.

Thank you for the 599 leads! 3 or 4 out there unfortunately creates a sellers market. :(

But... one can still buy one! :)

Not sure if the premise behind the manual transmission statement will hold but I see your point. Just recognize that a manual VW Jetta, a manual C7 corvette, and a manual 599 are so different that transmission alone can't be a determining factor.. also be a in mind that Porsche 996 tiptronics, at least from my anecdotal observations, appear to also price less than stick cars.. And the stick 911 isn't a rare phenomenon as you point out..

The rub is in a correction even the buyers of F1 and automatic cars don't have the money to buy exotics. So they all decrease in price. The real question in my eyes is whether the manual car is still priced higher. And I think that even in a recession the manual cars will be priced higher than their automanual counterparts as the enthusiast market isn't like the general automotive market. Your buyer places different values on the driving experience while your general automotive market doesn't have a preference.

Fair point Larry, but how would you feel in every thread I pontificate with bold assertions, and when you ask me to elaborate or provide context, I get angry and call you a troll for asking for more info, even going as far as trying to get you banned? Value threads are just one thing, he's made some wild assertions, many directed at the Ferrari community. In fact it wasn't until I called him out that he was claiming the majority of Ferrari owners didn't earn money by hard work to obtain their cars, but got it through inheritance or luck. Let me know if you want me to pull those out. He's insulted many of my personal friends here, and Internet or not, I will call him out.

That being said, all I ask is of him is no more talks of being bootstrapped yet is a lottery winner, ivy league 1%er hobnobber with billionaires (yes he's actually made all these statements) as a means to prove you bonafides, and if you do at the very least back it up.

Excuse me borrowing from Christian apologetics, but
Either he is a habitual liar, lunatic, or is in the witness protection program.

I am not really sure people are really paying 600 for a 599 gated.ETC.. sometimes all it takes is one at auction and the whole market gets reset .. It happened with many cars over the last couple of years then the dealers advertise them at similar prices not no real proof they get those numbers... I do think that it got some collectors thinking that should add a gated ___ to their collection and those cars are likely off the market for several years...
some of that is happening to 550s and other cars over the last year or so...

    FACT:

Manual owners are a dying breed

Collectors will buy anything because they think its unusual or rare

Speculators will buy anything if they think there's a buck in it.

Therefore, manual cars will cost more but it's not a craze that new owners necessarily want or will want more of in the future.

That being said, given the new Dino is not going to compete with the 458 in performance, getting an additional 10-15% in sales (like Corvette) for having a manual option makes sense for a car that will not have a limited production. Alfa is introducing it's top BMW M series fighter ONLY with a Manual gearbox. Don't tell me they are stupid or can't read consumer surveys.

I don't think the stick shift is going to totally die and there will always be those who want it.

I agree the new Dino should be offered with a manual transmission it would really make this a special car .. Almost foolish for Ferrari not to offer the manual... On the Dino if they do I will likely buy one

Ha-ha, great Cal t btw beautiful!! That's awesome you have a Seinfeld 911 a very cool thing to note and mention since I argue that is part of a car's provenance, I have no doubt you don't go around saying you are friends with him however! I hope that wasn't implied. :)

    Drive in good health!

    Cheers

Well said, Larry/Mayor do you guys feel they will position the Dino lower market? I know Marchionne said the new Dino will between the Cal and 488; but I think with growth concerns now as a public company..could a Dino SUV be even out the question? (Sound of Tifosi dropping)

Thanks for the kind words. The Speedster was such a lucky break. I just happened to meet someone who knew the car and that it was for sale and there you have it. The Porsche is so freaking analog compared to the Cali T. A totally different drive. But, fun. You forget how little power those older 911s have. It's hilarious.

That sounds awesome. I haven't had a chance to really take the Cali out on a long drive. But it is amazing just the same. I love that car. I'm surprised that more F car lovers don't give it a chance. It really does deserve to wear that little horse.

The 4 seat stigma, it's the same thing with the FF - many purists insist on only 2 seaters.

Enzo would say his favorite Ferrari is the next one...so not sure if this is just urban legend, but I've heard time and again his favorite Ferrari was the 330GT Series 1..a 4 seater..

If a 4 seater is the fav for the car's namesake, what more can I say to F car lovers that insist they should only be able to take 1 friend along for a ride? ;)

    Cheers

Similar to the Mac 570s -- which is a really fine car.

I don't see a Dino SUV as long as Maserati and Alfa are making them.
