Beautiful looking Greek shipping family car. Mmmmm. 1999 Ferrari 550 Maranello - Silverstone Auctions
Darius- Very nice 550. CdF is such a subtle color that looks very different depending on ambient light. That OEM Schedoni luggage is really pretty.
If I didn't already have one..Taz I think CdF is such a perfect colour for a 550. Is that quilted leather shelf OE? It was built for the owner of the main Ferrari importer in Athens. I wonder if extra care and attention was taken over its build? Or is Ferrari just not organised enough to do that.
It was a factory option (mine has it ). It was called "250 GT style" or something like that. And includes the headliner in this style as well. Cheers, Bernhard
The rear shelf does look 'puffier' than my quilted rear shelf and headliner. Also looks puffier than any I have seen before, even fresh from the factory.
From looking at the holes in the leather where the rear speakers are, it looks to be original as this is hard to duplicate.
I also thought that it looks a little bit different from mine, but had assumed that this is just my imagination ...
I'll see if the auction house has the spec sheet/build sheet which will tell us...sounds likely it's aftermarket.
Darius- The shelf looks OEM to me, but very hard to tell. Leatherwork is so cheap compared to most things on a Maranello. Leather rear shelves are only about $1000-1500 for 550s and 575s, depending on who does it. Bradan is doing a rear shelf for me now in the standard 575M pattern, but both 550s and 575Ms were available with diamond/lozenge stitching pattern on rear shelf and headliner.
Would be one of my prefered colour combinations as well. When I bought my car, I've been in contact with a official dutch Ferrari dealer who had a 550 for sales exactly in this colours. Had more miles, but at that time, the price has been different as well....☺. Looking forward to the auction result, as values don't seem to raise for the cars actually and are imho slightly dropping in europe. Doesn't matter to me personally, have no intension to sell.... Saluti, Jürgen
At the low estimate/reserve, it's a good car for someone. I'd bid if I didn't already have one, and if I had a spare £80k + fees, spare garage space, spare time to drive it, etc. Oddly I believe I was at junior school with the owner, though I haven't seen him since the days when Ferrari made fibreglass cars. Any lurkers who are tempted...go for it!
The last US 575M, HGTC 141817, that belongs to Dan, an FChatter, is Cdf. Here are a couple of photos that show how she looks different depending on lighting. Some tinges of brown, some of violet depending on viewing angle. His is Cdf with Cuoio Daytonas and shelf plus CF trim and HGTC, as mentioned earlier. Note she also has CdF extending all the way down the rocker panels and bumpers, like a Superamerica. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dan- You were very wise not to sell her a few years back. She is worth about twice what she would have been back then when few knew what HGTC was. One question: Does that rear bumper have any black paint or is that just a shadow back there?
Looks like it sold for £110,250 or approx $153k. Beautiful color combo. Edit: can't tell if that includes fees or not
There was at the auction also a ferrari 575 superamerica but it didn't sold. My friend has one with 1.000 kms more beautiful.
