I will be purchasing a used 458. This will be my first Ferrari. I have reviewed many of the threads regarding market value and unfortunately still do not have a great feel what is a "fair" price given the large national inventory, ? increasing depreciation given the 488, and the time of year. In regards to a 2011 and earlier, there is also routine service provided by Ferrari as with 2012 and newer. The various threads have 2010 and 2011 ranging between $180s and $220K asking. That is a big range. I also understand price is in the eye of the beholder; if you find "THE CAR" that is color and options as desired, then its worth is what you are will to pay. However, we all want to feel that the deal was fair. That said, I would be interested in the opinion of the collective on the following vehicle I would like to purchase: 2011 458, silver exterior with wrapped roof, lower rockers. Interior is black with white contrast stitching. ~7000 miles MSRP $289,561 Asking $212,500 from a non-Ferrari dealer. Seller is had the car transported to the Ferrari dealer for service. He has installed four new Pirelli P Zero tires, and had new wrap placed on the car. Options: AFS Headliner and door armrest in Alcantara Yellow Calipers Exterior sill kick in carbon Carbon fibre racing package/LED steering wheel/racing seats Front suspension lift Front wind in carbon Ipod Shields In/out elettr mirror+homelink Radio Navigation System + Bluetooth Parking Camera Yellow Rev counter Carbon Fiber Racing seats in Large 20 Sport forged diamond wheels (Finished in Black to match the theme) Sirius Satellite radio Rear shelf upholstered in Black leather (vs. carpet) Contrast stitching in Grigio Scuro Upper part (interior a pillars and headliner surround) in Black Alcantara Personally, I am not a big fan of red, black or white. I like the silver and the way the car is optioned.....but no warranty or service on an '11 I would appreciate feedback on vehicle and price thanks James
James you should be able to get the car for approximately 185. More importantly as summer approaches there will be flock of cars on the market. Good Luck
Sell for $185k? Thats a great deal. Where is this located? My co worker has been looking for one for 6 months now. If you can get for 185k that would be great. Buy I think 195 would still be a good buy relative to the market.
The most important thing is if you really love this particular car , the 5-10-15 grand difference shouldn't matter. Get exactly what you want bro. Take your advice from actual owners. Good luck with the purchase.
Get a REAL PPI (official Ferrari test document with 199 points of interest) before you do anything !!! Dont make that classic mistake NOT to do that ... Then bid K$ 185 and may end at 200 if the PPI is faultless
+1. I think the asking price is pretty close to market for a car that has the options and colors you want. You might get it for $205k, possibly less, since it's not at a Ferrari dealer, so there's no certification or warranty. But you could easily spend the next several months or longer trying to find the spec you want. $185k is not realistic, but if you want to try offering that, it's up to you.
Everybody is worried about 488's there will not be that many 488's for a couple of years. 185-200K depending on miles and color.
With racing seats, and other desirable options, the car is definitely worth about $195-200K. Just think if you were to order a new one now, you are likely to include the must have options; e.g., the carbon fiber racing seats. The desirable color and options are very important for you to love the car; a few $thousand saved on a compromise won't make you otherwise love it for years to come. With that said, sometimes a non-Ferrari dealer may get desperate if the car has been in inventory for a while, e.g., 90 days or longer. If the car has a clean history, well serviced, etc., it should be as reliable as any. The only thing you need to be concerned with on a 2011 is the battery. Negotiate for a new one, not necessarily an OEM Ferrari replacement as they are not that good. There's also a factory recall on all the 2010-2011 models for the front trunk latch. Nothing serious. If not too late, ask for the Michelin instead of the P Zero. I tend to disagree with many people here that prices will drop by summer as more user 458's come on the market. The 458 will hold its value as demand remains very high in the used car market. Just because a buyer has the money, he won't get an allocation for a 488 easily or quickly. Some traditionalists probably still want a non-turbo engine. I do. Some argue that there are over 300 458's in the U.S. market now and they are not 'selling.' I think it's because Ferrari buyers are very particular about color and options. A good match is not that easy to find. It took me over 2 years to find mine so that I do not compromise on the color and options. (Had I wanted a Rosso Corsa, then it is quick but I don't.) Buy wisely, the best deal won't necessarily make you love the car. The right color and options will. Best of luck.
We had a deal on a maxed out 2011 Italia with low miles for 215 through a F dealer. That deal fell through. We just purchased a 2012 that was even better with 1200 miles for 225. I don't think you will get a good car with the right options for 185 right now.
Thanks for the replies Could you please elaborate on a PPI. What does this stand for and cost? I assume that this is a complete inspection by a Ferrari dealer to document the current state of the car.
Jst, good luck with your search. A ppi is a must for this vehicle especially since its from a non Ferrari dealership.
Rule of thumb take the msrp and subtract $10k for each year old it is then $5 per mile that would make this car around $204k retail
Hahaha. I tried that before on my 430 but not 458. (Sometimes they want you to go through financing anyway) It didn't work but op should try it. In my experience, when i bought my f430 spider they said we will take the money and you can finance the difference. They even computed it for me and said it will only be $xxx a month so you can afford it.
^ this usually a good rule of thumb according to my local dealer except for scuderias, speciale, cs, etc
No affiliation but if this car checks out this looks to be a solid deal for a 2011 @ 185k with less than 10k miles.. I had almost that exact same interior combo (yellow stitch/diamond seats) in my Daytona Nero car and it was a b*tch to sell though. Ferrari 458 | eBay
This car is not a bad looking car....I think it's actually rare combo. And the price is a very fair number.
