Who the heck designed that AC compressor mount???

    So, after 3-1/2 hours, finally got the timing belt covers off. My rear cover was a pain since it had several studs for the second AIR pump that is no longer installed on my '77. Those are going away. The front was easy after I got the compressor off. Ended up pulling all the studs (2 bottom, 3 top) to get the compressor out. My AC is not holding a charge and is dead so I just disconnected the lines.

    Just had to vent, LOL. Still, now on to the belts.....

    When I did my 1st belt change on my 77 I replaced all of the studs with bolts. There were 2 different lengths and I had to measure them so they would be tight without bottoming out. It made the future belt changes much easier and the same with installing the AC bracket. I also did the Sanden AC compressor modification and used the adapter bracket that was the belt adjustment. With this you would remove the small belt tensioner assembly and just get a smaller belt.

    Steve, I'm suffering right along with you! I finally got the AC compressor and everything else off and started on the belts themselves. Funny thing is, getting down the belts seems to be the hardest part. The actual belt change was easy. I wrapped up the rear belt on Sunday and now need to move on to the front belt. Hopefully it goes back together easier than it came apart...

    Are you using Hill Engineering tensioner bearings?

    Have the Hill Engineering bearings ready to go. Going to stop by the lumber yard on way home and see if I can get some maple or other hard wood to make some cam locks.

    Half my time for a belt change was getting the compressor out. I left it out and sealed the lines, so next belt change would be easy. Maybe I'll put it back in when I sell. Even with R12, it's just not much cooling power.
