I need some help please. I have a 1995 355 Berlinetta. My shock light has been on for quite some time now. I checked all four actuators and they seem to be working. As instructed i started the car and monitored all 4. Each time i started the car, the little gears inside spun. I also replaced one of the gears on the back left shock as it was cracked. The others seem to be fine. Aftet all that, the light is stil on. Could it be the shock switch? Or possibly the actuators are still bad? Please help. Thanks so much.

Unless you can interrogate the computer, there's probably not much you can do without borrowing/buying stuff (e.g. for randomly swapping out components). For example, I have a old spare actuator (cracked and missing a rubber seal, but still functions well) which I could use in the future to assist in faultfinding.

Make sure your actuators are clipped on properly. I replaced a broken gear on one of my struts also, but found my light was still on. I found I hadn't seated one of the other actuators properly on the strut. Also, make sure you move the car after replacing items. It's been said that the light won't extinguish if you start the car 3~4 times, but don't move the car.

    Cheers
    Ian

    This is true.
If you start the car several times but don't physically drive it the yellow shock light will light up until you start driving it.

even if all 4 actuators are replaced, the light might still stay on.
hard reset/clearance of the codes at the dealer is the only remedy

I have been overhauling quite a lot of these actuators myself.
the black sliding piece inside the actuator is the most frequent fail which causes a slight play on the mechanism but enough to trigger the light.

very hard to notice for the less trained eye as the actuator will still be spinning.

try sticking in a big flat screwdriver and see if you can detect some/slight play by pushing clockwise/counter clockwise.

    Good to know. Thanks.

To the OP. Have you switched off the the battery switch for a period of time (15 mins)? Might be worth a try before a call to the dealer.

I just have to ask because so many people ask questions about it and we don't know how long you've had your car etc. could you describe what the light looks like that is on? It's not the little shock is it?

Ok I just had to ask. Absolutely no offence meant by the question. There have been people on here more then once saying their suspension is messed up because the little picture of a shock is lit up.
