    Hey,
My battery is about 7 years old, and the only thing keeping it alive is the battery tender, so it's time to replace. I found battery recommendations on this site from 2006, so I figured I'd just ask- any recommendations for batteries sold state side? It looks like it's gotta be a size 34R?

    Appreciate the advice!
    George

Sears still sells a DieHard battery in this configuration. I've been meaning to pick one up.

I recommend Interstate battery as mine lasted nine years and being maintained by Battery Tender.
    Costco now sells Interstate battery.

Just don't buy Optima. I've had 4 (red tops) die within 2 years. Unacceptable. Just installed Sears Diehard AGM 34R in my 360.

+1 on Interstate. My FCar does not have one now but two of my other cars do and they have been great. I will buy an Interstate for the 308 when I next need a battery. No issues at all even after sitting for a while. Reasonable price as compared to an Optima.

this... I bought my last Interstate at Costco as well. no problems. If you dont use a maintainer and leave the car undriven during the winter.... you might consider a deep cycle. It's just a bit more protection from battery damage if it gets low on charge.

Yes, 24R (Reverse post), the only one Batteries Plus had, was a red Optima.

They had a huge bad run, years ago, but that's what I dropped in there...

Interstate. I had one in my 328 from May 1994 to May 2014. No kidding, it lasted 20 years! I replaced it with another.

Mine had an Interstate in it when I bought it and that's what I replaced it with about 10 years later.

Does any one have a set of these battery cover nut clips for sale? They attach to the bottom of the battery cover nuts, much like a c clip.

Odyssey battery, just make sure if you use a tender it's the right one that will handle AGM

Optima red top installed in my 360 July 2014, died last month (Feb '16) while hooked to a Ctek charger.

Prior to this, 3 Red Tops replaced under warranty in my ex-328 within 2 years. One didn't even last a year.
(Sure, I get a new battery everytime for "free," but this is not how I want things to go.)

My first Optima bought circa 2005 lasted almost 5 years (that was good).

I drive my car all year round.

Im needing to replace battery and I currently have an interstate 34R... Lead flooded.... For mounting, it has the scalloped / concave indentions that seem to fit the mounting bracket of my 1986 328 very well.... It seems that interstate no longer makes the 34R with the same "concave" mounting notches, but with outward flanges... Not tried to mount anything different and wonder if it will fasten and be as secure as the older design...

I see lot's of people commenting on many different batteries. Three years ago, this was the only maker I could find that had the curved notches.. Am I the only one worry about this..? Apparently it must not be an issue of anyone? Maybe it's in my head, as I feel someone would have mentioned already....?
