I think they were from different years. it was discussed in another thread. some year 355's were default comfort and some years were default sport. but I don't remember which years were which.
I don't think the upper switch is from a 355. The lower switch is from early 355s but later (98 or 99) the switched said SPORT on it instead of having a picture of a shock with the S under it. I don't recall ever seen a 355 with a switch like the upper one, but I haven't see every 355 made. P.S. Have you checked the part number? Should be on the switch somewhere.

Thanks for the additional info Dave. Like I said, I haven't seen them all. So your dual fuel pump car had that type of switch. They must have changed pretty early in the 95 model year. Bigger question is, do they function the same????
Hey John, Both of my 95's are early, duel fuel pump cars and both have the same switch. In my 98, when sport mode is selected, the dash indicator says "SPORT". I believe on the early cars it's opposite and the light is off when sport is selected but I don't recall 100% the differences but the all of those switches are toggle (or 2-position). Door lock / unlock (etc)are momentary switches.
Dave, check your manual, page F6 I believe, at the bottom. I have the 95, 97 and 98 manuals. While the dash indicator is different, all the manuals say the dash indicator lights up when in Comfort mode. I.E. when lit, SPORT is OFF.

Yes Dave, it's a warning light. When lit it is telling you Sport is OFF. From '98 manual. You are driving around in comfort mode if the light is on. Image Unavailable, Please Login

My picture was also form the 98 F1 manual, bottom of page F6. Where is your picture from? Ok, I found it your section too. That section is referring to the transmission being is Sport mode. Look like it crazy. When the trans is in Sport mode, the dash light goes on and the suspension would seem to be in sport mode too. When the trans is not in Sport mode the light it appears the light goes off, but if you use the suspension switch the light goes back on when you switch the suspension to Confort mode, if you can believe the manual. No wonder you F1 guys have problems knowing what mode the suspension is in.
98 F1 Manual, Page H33 Clearly F6 is a mis print as it would be pretty stupid to say "SPORT" when illuminated if it really means "COMFORT"
All bets are off. It's Italian, remember. We have our ways. All the manuals I have say the same thing on page F6, 95, 97, and 98 F1. Looks like Ferrari may be using the dash light for dual purposes. Manual cars manuals all say the light is on when in comfort mode. You will have to check and report: 1) With the F1 trans in SPORT mode, what happens when you change the position of the suspension switch? 2) With the F1 trans in NORMAL mode, what happens when you change the position of the suspension switch? I'm thinking that when the trans is in SPORT mode the suspension switch may be overridden and have no effect. Buy not having an F1 car, that's just a guess.
John, the only way the trans gets into sport is the same switch as the suspension. When the weather breaks, I will test both settings but my car shifts so violently quick that I'm pretty certain it's in sport mode. I can't imagine it shifting quicker but I hope you are correct coz that would be really cool if it could
Ok, I missed that. I was looking at the wrong figure. Also, I check a 98 manual car. Seems the switch is dual mode. In manual cars the switch shows a Shock with S under it, unless very earl 95. Dash light is on when in comfort mode. In F1 cars the switch is used to control both the trans and suspension mode and the dash light is on when in SPORT mode. Apparently, F1 cars can not independently control the suspension mode. You are either in full sport mode, trans and suspension, or when the trans is in Auto or Normal mode the suspension is in comfort mode. Summary. Manual car. Switch controls suspension setting, dash light on in comfort mode, off for SPort. F1 car. Switch controls trans and suspension. Dash light on when trans and suspension in sport mode, off when trans in any other mode and suspension in comfort mode. Like I said, it's Italian. Agree page F6 doesn't apply to F1 cars, even though it's in the F1 manuals.

I can't check cause my car has been stored at shop after major. since I've owned my car I've driven it at all times in default/sport suspension no light on dash. to my understanding 5.2 6speed cars are default in sport. pushing the button puts the car in comfort with dash light on?
Dave Is correct when light is lit the transmission and shocks are in sport mode. This is a fact on my 99. Tried it on the track and big diff. Dave if you want a faster transmission you know how to get one. Its called a scuderia. Ha ha
