I am told a 348 challenge will fetch ... close to 100K
i'm fine with the Porsche comparo as many of us here have or had a Porsche. Regarding 355 prices, I'm just not seeing high $50's or 60's on a coupe or targa. Also, I am not seeing $30's for a 348 either.
Just my opinion on what they are worth for the car they are.If you're looking at asking prices , you wont see it , but with some research on actual selling prices , I think they can be had. I made some offers on 355's , it wasn't hard to get the sellers down, in one week I made offers in the 40's and the highest 50, and the sellers were willing to sell. And the cars had services like belts valveguides and headers done. But I also explained to the sellers I am a dealer , I would drive the car , no ppi ball busting ,just sign the title and I would drive off into the sunset and they would never hear a peep out of me ever again. Just like I did with my 996tt purchase , a short test drive ,no ball busting , handed over cash money and drove away , got the seller( private owner ) down $11,000 off his asking price. The whole process took 45 minutes , he was happy , I am happy.
new York craigslist, 1997 355 f1 spider , not many details , but asking is $35700. i'll bet a no bull crap no ppi whining offer of 30k would buy that car . they are out there , that took me about 2 minutes to find
Nah, it's legit! If one of these is real I'm going with the craigslist ad. https://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/cto/5422525217.html Cars for Sale: 1997 Ferrari F355 Spider in El Dorado Hills, CA 95762: Convertible Details - 400823626 - Autotrader
So you think they want more than the asking ? I wish people would come to my business and offer me more than I am asking. I'll admit that is an unusually low price , but the point is , they are out there . there is a 6 speed spider on copart ,clean title , not being sold by an insurance company, described minor dents , for 39900. I'm sure the situation there is just a dealer wanting to be easily rid of a needy car , no ppi and no endless negotiation, just bid , 3,2,1, sold !
LMAO, and I didn't think those craigslist scams worked on anyone. Thank you, I have learned something today.
I just wired a deposit , should I not have done that ? I'm going to put lipstick on that pig and flip it for a big profit.
Even at 51 k that sorted car has been sitting languishing on the market for at least six months , thats when i first saw it , probably for sale longer than that It was nigeria , how did you know ? Btw , we made over $100k last year scouring craigslist for deals , offering cash and selling at wholesale auctions. Real stupid huh ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Might have something to do with the fact that it's due for a major and has accident history on the carfax.
Do a reverse lookup of that image and its for sale everywhere LOL https://www.google.com/search?tbs=sbi:AMhZZiuW_1juepcSdpPNtYh1Njqf6Mx89Cu9N-Z61PEYlkbZGJMXo1xNB4doJajG9ogK3flFKM2KADdW9dKO9hANysIRLS0btItagH11PaqTverD9NLofxOKq4mzIxgOvmP4FNWuPyh-2HfJ4FEKZRqX_1EIxU1sT5g5MxCYLPYXgQRh6dU2R8LLouBdgdVGwnsu7MeM5ZBTFcSBDdAAoCltq5JXQrpHKGbN-e_1eSXAWQAnZxWFlFIIL_17TGWe4ff4IqZvASmezNwuLtEadtAQPyJlqpbY7lnh8FavPWpjsl2jVEfC9HuuQQI-re-uJaZSJmH08MCEDjWc_1ANrXzNVTPMCwMBvSK2bXoPweI7CUKYc3g7Q9VuVy-jcG6baF4KF59zsiD7unmlzFivMXpdaEWAaLc8P0YWY5f3_1_1gGIdh13WkBuI303LvuvlxqZMOTJeQt2TyLnq_1B7AAxp3T1XJBoxprdTHJHLEwE5IboNdgk6hdzj9YdGNgiyH_1iDUw1Q_1pSuQtNFRVUPOrqV1b04VGCokLxus4PzvMEGswZaep6X-5RB1O8eCn6I2LtfBUW_10JrFSUrzVFNZKa6vYOzPuJ-NCGMVUMUjDFvgycSRMFe2SIG5LMbunGS95sIjIuyFiehQw_1GpO0IgdCRhDwwrzDTkdY4iURIDvi_1HhYgzmLsJ34CwVg8eF_1fwxfei7xPqkIfRaawb5u3TkHlQbjRKdkMdM5ZpQaYTRHLmL-oSJ-yYYp2d-cDG-U23DDxYnuAY8mkVP9Fu4newjXgmIKGgwjuNmJQK_1WS3XDDgkHurHKB-E8-3zVZIOqpyHoKTGAOYPGv0XscrQY-pHE-nbov7_1SGTtqm6QlJHAbVmIpk8H2NSmIic-0rT2OkmueQQS0Ni-9oeSn3WHQVBdNnBxwbFG-eR53B6pKDjd8htGRLR6BN0NLd91dxj-LKl6T678CLtHmOWosZBbmOiw-doRx3jAm3dZRNCy7iFYlDKr2ylbSewW3Uzgmo8kbFs95XDShZTMbnmXhrimuek67Mq5GdXTAYU63Ay69jA5yTUS30KEJpH5QtGYYS8120cWCJfFhcuqPWidAfPjvlsice4DBdwqPT1hacrSK5mHmcaxpWfyxeP3G8GWJ9BUGEtZ1Fdy-1V8WSmkqEJRhXxheg-Gte8F_1iY-8T02FQn77QmgFzKKKrwHlXxAW_1MolPhVVYmmWzGvc31_1F5AMeQYwgxH8hYvDEA3edQ2ta948-D6mJs0aBboxyWxCsUkQQMKiQwR3NQfUX74vQIQhSxxeYmmFIMx86Yili0zUAk6fG_1pWezreg-CzVcSg79rAW5Fi0Ruk2p03Te_14ToF6TZhbbdT5hH1izUXyOiul9fP8ZCGmWkJ9yonbwOmf2L_1PgEKgvpsAYnPS7H078Sn6t75yUw1X9oq0yN8OHuQ3zJ-WCTXj3BdP4jS5fVV2I-zB2JofZ5i3Fwmy7IydZfzaRmFAZQZa76nLxTcnooySruC49PD5Dt-zRULnITE9befkHntyDDvjkcLdN8efD7s1HxndMFotTw8zVAu4ab-xdA4njMJoU7RG1xKC-iBpS5qptwhv2nz-cvDcYHMn-2Om6kl&btnG=Search%20by%20image&hl=en
Most of the time i find the too cheap to be real ones are for real . When i ask why , my personal favorite is " well i need the cash to bail my boyfriend out " lol. saaaaaweeeeeeeeet True story here , 2012 honda civic , $3000 , we ask do you have the title , answer , yes , i say really , i'd feel better about giving you $5000 . She says , but his bail is only $3000, thats all i need. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Hope you gave her a card, because something tells me that she's gonna need to bail him out again, and probably soon. No way the NY 355 Spider is real though-- the ad has apparently been up for a month. In that time it would have been sold several times over if it were a legit deal.
Oh i'm sure its not legit , i took about two minutes to look amd it was the first thing i saw , but there are desls out there , alot of owners arent fchat guys , some old guys , like the guy that bought my 348 , dont even know how to use a computer , so they arent up on current values , deals can be found , you cant just say its too cheap it must be a scam . A few months ago i found a legit f1 spider for $39k , i just wasnt into a red f1 spider , deals do turn up here and there. Cash talks ...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree the deals are still out there. There is a giant difference in asking price vs. what someone will actually pay. I can ask $30k for my 335i all day long...no one will pay that much. I am contemplating a 348 again but only if it is mid to low 50's MAX. Once it gets beyond that there are simply other cars that become a much better purchase IMO. They may be more, but again a better overall buy. Aston Martin V8 Vantage 360 Audi R8 (seen as low as $67,000) Gallardos (as low as $79,999 but could probably negotiate) Nissan GTR's etc etc etc. Yes I know they arent F-cars other than the 360. But all are still fairly "special" vehicles that will get their fair share of attention if thats what you want. I am into performance first, attention second. BUT... it is like the classic Car and Driver magazine article said about the 348, there are cars that offer better value but none are spelled F E R R A R I.
It's really going to depend on what you want in a car. If you want something that feels like an old school go-kart scary sports car but that's also exotic there aren't a whole lot of good options under $100k (Lotus comes to mind but the powertrain isn't that special...Maybe a Pantera but again the powertrain isn't exotic at all). The 348 is an excellent choice at the current prices. It delivers a great "feel-for-the-price" ratio. I feel like the sort of person that wants a 348 also wants an old NA air cooled Porsche. They aren't that fast for the price, but they're really satisfying to drive. If all you want is something fast and cool looking but not a vette then there's a ton of options that make more sense than the 348. The 360 is a miles better Ferrari for not much more. The R8 and Gallardo have gotten cheap. You can get Viper or GTR, etc etc. I'll wager that none of those cars has the connected feel of the 348 though. A lot of people won't care and those are the people that should scoop up the aforementioned cars and get a great value. There's still plenty that value the total immersion of driving that older sports cars offer though. Those are the people that will choose a 348 over a 360.
I don't know... I had a 348. Honestly when I sold it I wasnt sorry to see it go. In a lot of ways it simply felt like an old car. It reminded me ALOT of my old 240sx. It wasnt particularly fast and it handled no better than the Boxster I came from prior to it. But I have always had sports cars. I mean in my life there has never been a time I had something that wasnt quick/fast or handled well. I am just presenting more of a objective perspective. Is it currently the best value in the classic ferrari line up? Honestly I think the Mondial is much better value but I don't mind the Mondial. I will continue to say that as long as asking prices stay above 60K they are not what I consider a good value. I feel bad for people that missed owning them when they were 20K cheaper and now consider them a good deal because everything else has swung into the ridiculous price range. Anyone else remember when Testarossa's were $50,000 4 years ago? And when it comes to the handling of these cars I found this article online. I remember in the magazines when the car came out saying it didnt handle "exotic car well" Again just an objective stand point from someone who lusted after the car for 20 years before I was able to own one.
