No chance I would ever consider an Acura over a 458. I have recently seen the nsx and was not impressed. 458's have already depreciated a chunk but it won't be very likely to see them in the under $100k range. The Acura, if it follows the previous path, will depreciate to a $30k car

It depends it might be easier to drive around everyday compared to the 458. Plus the maintenance is cheaper and comes with a full warranty. I don't drive my 458 every day like my r8 but with the nsx you can imo.

I purchased a new 1991 Red manual NSX back in the day.
One of the best cars I've ever owned....sorry I sold it.

I was also involved with giving my opinion on the development of the new NSX through an Acura market research group.

Not sure how this one stacks up but I thought the article was interesting.

BTW....I sold the car many years later for the same price I paid......zero depreciation at that time.

If you read the article, the reason given to consider the NSX is that it is quiet below 50mph. I suspect that is not a valid reason for most 458 owners. If it seems valid to you, I urge you to buy an NSX and browse another Forum.

This NSX is totally different with the NSX before. This front engine, vacuum cleaner NSX is more another Nissan GTR. It may track as fast or faster than 458, but the passion is less.

    Well, it's not front-engined. It's a rear-engined, longitudinal 6-cyl twin turbo, with 3 electric motors.

I love the Ferrari 458 (own one) but the new NSX is the new cool kid on the block. It's fast, technologically ahead of the 458, sounds good and has solid build quality ( I've been in one ). The 458 is one of Ferraris all time greats no doubt but the new NSX really interests me. There are thousands upon thousands of 458s out there right now . I think I'd like to try the NSX.

Entry level supercars are a great category.

R8 for naturally aspirated v10, nsx for 918 tech, porsche tt for practicality, 570 for macca exotic appeal. Maybe even huracan rwd fits into price point.

and then there is used 458 which I would take over all the above

Looked at the rwd huracan. It's at a slightly higher price most models are 240-260. A decent spec would be 240k.

Find me a 2002-2004 NSX with no stories, 8-15K miles for under 60K and I will give you 10K finders fee! 1991-1994 cars with 100K miles are bringing 40K, 95-2001 cars 50-70K, and if you can even find a 2002 70-140K. If you want to do apples to apples the 1st and 2nd gen NSX's with no stories will always fetch 90-100K all day long for ever, 360's are sub 100K. I have owned 7 NSX's, raced them for years, only reason why I don't have one of the 1st or 2nd gen cars today in my garage is because I don't have room...and no I wouldn't pick a new NSX over a used 458 or my Speciale A either! But I would have a 2002-2004 NSX over a 360!

    Sounds good?
Wasn't this but one of the reasons not to buy based on a recent review of the new NSX?

I'm biased. I think the 458 Italia sounds amazing.

NSX doesn't sound as good as the 458 but that doesn't mean it doesn't sound good. I'm looking at the entire package not just the sound. Not saying I'd trade in my 458 just saying the new NSX is interesting to me . I'd consider buying one too

No way I would buy this electronic "marvel". The software controlled handling would put me off right there.

It may be a good DD but if I want that, I'd get a California.

Last model years, low mileage and no stories will also bring a premium for 360's just like they do for every car that is desirable. The 360 didn't have a facelift like the nsx did. I am talking about the first run. If they choose to produce the new one for the same amount of time, it will also see updates. This is the first gen of this build and may see the same curve if you drive the wheels off it and end up being a first gen 80k miles car. You stated the value of the equivalent of the first gen above. Last time I checked the nsx market I have seen 30k cars. If they appreciated then good for them. Everyone has their favorites.

The best sound from a turbocharged is currently 488, and still it sounds like a crap. Forget about NSX.
And having a battery is a technology from 918, so does Prius. Currently demand is for something raw, like 911R. I think if Honda relaunch the old NSX, even with the same engine and transmission, it would sold out very soon. But not this NSX.

The NSX is a very heavy car

Given Honda's brilliant engineering feats in F1, I would be wary of complex technology from them.

But it is simple: a Ferrari or a Honda? Says it all....

The new NSX seems like a good do-it-all super/sports car. More often than not, however, cars that are good at everything are great at nothing. For that special experience enthusiasts crave, the NSX may be somewhat over-refined and lacking character (if recent reports are accurate). Most of the time, owners can only drive their supercar at five or six tenths. Aside from its abundant power and sharp looks, is driving the new NSX exciting enough, special enough? I guess its owners will soon find out. Personally, I'd rather have a 458.

Very well said Rob. Exactly the reason I'm a Scud owner.

nsx getting so much on line hate from reviews to chat rooms. not sure why since its basically a scaled down 918 which was loved.
its not my exact cup of tea because I have doubts about electric reliability when driven on track but its at least competitive with r8 and 570. and I would take any mid engine competitor over boring Porsche tt which many people call best all around sports car all time
