Thanks Mike. I'll be back in LA in a few weeks, I'll ping you to see if you are free to meet up for a drink/coffee.
The car was finally finished a couple of weeks back. The interior took the longest time because the man working on it took his sweet time. The leather is beige sourced from UK Hide (their version of Connolly Leather). We ditched the black leather and went back to mousehair for the dash and center consol. The headliners were also done in leather vs the original vinyl. Vinyl was cheaper but I figured why not just go with 100% leather? I didn't manage to keep the cloth inserts but I'll preserve them for the next owner unless someone really wants it for his own restoration. Thank you Black Bird Automotive Hong Kong. They did such an excellent job and it was money well spent. The shop manager believes they probably should have charged double but it was the first paint job in their new shop and they did all the little extras including cleaning out the signal lights, redoing the wheels, and so many other details. When I got the car from Australia, although the engine and gearbox was strong, it was a tad faded red with marked up seats and it now looks like fine Italian gentleman ready to cruise around the finest roads with no shame. Now it's time for me to focus on the 330GTC which has been in the body/paint shop for last 2+ years...
In case anyone is wondering, Thomas' car looks just as good underneath Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
car washer by day, pool boy at night. how much 'riding' did he get in the back of that car? re-trimming the interior is a good idea, come to think of it.
WOW, Thomas, your car is stunning. Next time I am back in HK I would LOVE to check out your car! Got registration/plates yet? Also, are you on the Island or mainland?
Thanks. However it is not very fair to say the previous owner didn't look after it. Greg really took care of the car. The engine and gear box and suspension were all rebuilt by him and now runs and looks new. No paint will not last 40+ years, especially a respray (as was the case with this car). He wanted to paint it also but I took care of that after I became the new caretaker. I think based on Greg's work on the mechanicals and mine on the exterior, this 365 GTC/4 has to be one of the better examples around.
Aahh,Thomas, that was tongue firmly planted in cheek. You need to spend more time in Aussie section to understand.....
Thomas, don't take my comment too seriously, it's the way we talk in the Aussie section. Seeing the pictures of the restoration Greg posted in his thread, I think it's fair to say no expense was spared on the mechanicals. The car looks sensational now, hats off to you for making it look the way it does!
ok understood. I was just standing up for our man Greg but I get it now. Sorry for my misunderstanding.
Tom, your are far too polite. The appropriate response to a smart arsed Aussie would be SHUT THE **** UP
