    Hey everyone,

I'm going to be fixing my 308 front tire canvas on my carb 308.

I'm looking for a strong quality glue for the project. In the past, I have used
3M trim adhesive for smaller areas, but interested in other options as well.

I got a replacement part from Ferr parts. My tire cover is in great condition,
but the zipper is torn and beyond repair.

    Thanks in advance!

In the early carburated models the front spare tire compartment has
an oval steel or aluminum opening that is covered with a vinyl/upholstery
material which includes a zipper. I'm not sure if your 308 has this still, Stu.

This changed in later cars that had a plastic (?), hard enclosures.

A zipped cover to hide the spare tire in the front of a 76-77 308. 78 they did away with the zipped cover and left the tire exposed.

I think very late 77 had the hard shell. My 22063 has the zipper vynil but I've seen 77 with hard plastic enclosure.

3M 5200 comes in fast-15 minute working time, slow- 24 hour drying time, Marine- it would be dry by the time you have read this. Shoe Goo. I have mended several tears on tarps and car covers at least a year ago, with Shoe Goo..still perfect. Sets within 5 minutes and very strong and clear. Adhesives are a hobby and fascination with me. I have at least 20 types of adhesives in a drawer. 5200 is permanent, and irreversible. I hope the is of some help to someone. Jq.

Late 1977 or certainly early 1978, it goes with the transition to a hard water bottle instead of a saddle bag, at the windshield washer system.
