Agreed! The nice driver's can be even more fun than the 98 point cars, because you don't have to worry so much about a chip or two. Years ago I restored a1966 Shelby GT-350H,( black & gold Hertz car), you could eat off the underside of the car, I want my cars very nice, but NEVER want to own and drive one like that again. Too much headache about the car getting dirty/chips/cleaning.... on & on. And I do NOT trailer my cars anywhere. Drive them!
It's funny, cos 10-12 years ago this would have been an $18-23k car (I got mine for $22k and there were a lot available for that price range). And with its mileage would have been pretty unsellable. The 308 market got so hot so fast.... Crazy!!
The rise in value has been on the cards for quite sometime. I've been reading articles in car magazines for around 10 years saying 308's were undervalued and would be the next Ferrari to jump in value and then almost overnight they did!!!!! Glad I got in just in time. Excellent steel 308's are around £100,000 now but it does feel like the market has possibly plateaued.
When I first got my 308 a good engineering friend of mine walked around it in awe. He approached a wheel well, pulled out his pocket knife, opened the blade and handed it to me. He said, "This is so beautiful, but if you intend driving it, sooner or later it will get a ding... May as well put a nick in it somewhere yourself and get it over with.". He apparently put a small nick under the wheel well (so not visible unless you looked hard) on every car he owned. Never did of course, but interesting perspective...
Yep, I ran a key down both sides of mine from tip to tail as it was going to happen sooner or later anyway. To the 0P, beautiful car, go for it! You won't be sorry!
