Being a small manufacturer Ferrari has always had trouble getting an uninterrupted supply of tires from any one company. In the 90's they used 4 suppliers for that reason.

If you are Ford or Mercedes you have clout and no one wants to lose that account. Ferrari? no one cares. They lose more tires than Ferrari buys.

 

Ah they don't write ad copy like that these days.........we are way too pc and uptight for that now....pity ;-)

 

0-60 in 5.7 seconds in a 308 QV? Is that downhill?

Maybe they are using Euro timing.

 

I remember way back then thinking NCTs were way cool because the Lotus Esprit came with them (and I was in love with the Esprit). I always wanted to put a set on my already-high-mileage Audi Coupe GT (front wheel drive by the way)... but on my poor college kid income, I was doing good to have ANY new tires on my car.

And as for having old brands of tires on our cars today, I'm a believer. Yep, I spring for the mortgage-your-house XWXs for my 308.

You're right of course Brian, but been able to claim that their tyres were fitted on Ferraris was always important to Michelin: you could spot at least three or four of the latest Ferraris testing tyres on the Ladoux test range any day; I even have the c/n of one or two...
