    When I turn the key to position II, the "Check" message appears briefly. I wait 2-3 minutes and the "Check OK" message never comes on. However, if I start the engine, then the "Check OK" message will come on. This is different then what is described in the Owner's Manual. The manual states to wait for the Check OK message before starting the engine.

    How long do others wait for the Check OK message?

    What is correct? Since I eventually get an "Check OK" message I assume all is good.

    My car is an '09.

    Mine comes on immediately and goes out after about 10 seconds. I have a 2007.

    Mines an '07 and it comes on only AFTER the engine has started

    I turn the key on, wait for the checks to be complete and then start the engine. The checks take about 30 seconds I would guess. My car is a late Nov 08

    Same here -- it's quick, and definitely not with engine running, though I imagine that could happen if you started the engine right away before Check disappears.

    Just to clarify, I could wait DAYS after turning the key to on position and never see "Check OK". About fifteen seconds after I start it, the check ok light comes on. A "check" light comes on and goes out but never the check ok unless the engine has been running

    Same here. Key on to position II. "Check" message displayed and then goes out. Wait, wait, wait. Nothing. After 3 minutes or so, tired of waiting, I start the engine and then the "check ok" message displays.

    Mine goes out after a few seconds before starting the engine. Got to love these cars!

    Real progress. On my 575M, the Check OK lamp illuminates about the same time I get her into neutral for start. Guess there are just fewer things to check.
