Just got an e-mail on this Mexico being offered for $164K..... Take a look and post opinions.... 1967 Maserati Mexico - Hyman Ltd. Classic Cars It is a very beautiful Mexico... Mike
AM112*106. You'll notice that it is always the same cars that reappear on the market. Nothing new or freshly restored. Note the Iso Rivolta wheels !
Yes, I noticed that as well... I also noticed the following: 1. The brake fluid reservoirs appear a little low on brake fluid 2. I am not sure, but I don't think there should be an ashtray on the console by the gearshift lever. Mike
My first Maserati ! I bought it from a chap near Washington DC in 1980 and then drove it across the USA to Seattle - an extremely eventful journey to put it mildly. At the time it had only one gas tank as the car had been converted to propane at some point; and then back to gasoline. I sold the Mexico in the early 1980's in the San Diego area after I bought my 3500 GTi (which I still have). As I recollect the Cinghiale leather (wild boar?) was suede like in texture and was kind of a 'dirty' gray -tan colour - the current leather looks rather 'bright' and smooth to be cinghiale? Those alloy wheels were on the car when I bought it. The Mexico was a rather nice metallic burgundy paint colour when I owned it. Cheers, Colin
How's the market looking these days, are those cars currently on the market actually finding new homes or are the just getting dusty in the dealerships? My head has been turned by something turbocharged and modern so may be looking to pass my Mexico on to a new custodian this Summer and it would be good to know where the values are sitting.
Mexico 112 900 may be coming up for auction at Artcurial in about a month. Info on the car can be found on the Artcuruial site under Lot # 196. They are estimating it to be 85,000 to 120,000 Euros. There is probably info on this car on the Mexico Registry, but I did not check... Will be interesting to see what it goes for! Mike
You're right Mike, they picked up the informations on the website. I was in contact with the last Austrian owner. There is also a nice article about the restoration of AM112/1*010 in the last Motor Klassik magazine, unfortunately I don't speak German !
I'll be at the Le Mans Classic with my Mexico so will also be interesting to see how good this car is, and what it sells for. It looks a little cheap compared to the others on the market but there is often a big difference from a dealers asking price and an auction sale. Hopefully things will be buoyant as I'm putting mine on the market when we get back from the 'Classic'.
With the value of the pound dropping like a stone following the UK bonkers Brexit vote, does anybody want to buy a UK Maserati Mexico? ..... No seriously
The Mexico at Le Mans didn't sell but overall they were reporting a poor attendance with only a few of the big-ticket cars being sold. Indicating that the UK's exit from the EU and the lost value in the pound had kept away most of the UK buyers. Looks like I'll be better offering mine onto the European market rather than trying to sell it within the UK. Being LHD it probably makes more sense anyway.
Well chaps, the deed is done and the adverts have been posted. https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/maserati/mexico/1968/398661 Maserati Mexico 4.2 Manual For Sale (1968) on Car And Classic UK [C766934] Lets see if I can find a new owner for her....?
I'm sorry Paul, I wasn't able to meet you at Le Mans. I was there on Saturday. A friend of me spotted your Mexico but when I decided to see it, you were probably in another place with your car. I couldn't sleep last night because of the events, I found your advert and updated the website with it. The car is well priced, it will sell quickly. Regards Charles
Thanks Charles Certain events put everything in perspective and my thoughts are with the whole of the France today. Another very sad day. Kind regards Paul
