Hey everyone! Just registered on this forum but have been a Long time viewer. Just wanted to say thanks to eveyone on here who posted such useful information, it really helped sway my decision in favour of a 458 vs a 12c. I'm coming from a jaguar f type so this is going to be a whole new experience for me, as this is also my first Ferrari, hopefully some kind hearted members would be able to help should I have some questions down the line. And anyone in Singapore please feel free to PM meet for any meet ups! Hope you all have a great day!
Welcome and enjoy. Driving the 458 on race mode with the windows down and revving to 9k rpm as much as you can will show you what the car is about compared to the f type and 12c
Congrats! My 458 should be here Friday, also my first Ferrari! Will post up pics when I pick it up (weather permitting - ugh)
Congrats ! Don't over-do it all ... get to learn the car. Drive it in automatic until you feel safe ...
I got my 458 Spider three weeks ago, my 6th Ferrari, but 25 years newer than my Testarossas and 328"s. Sunday I washed and drove the 1990 Testarossa, the 87 328GTB AND the 458 Spider. A TOTALLY different and incredibly much faster car. No comparison in almost any way- well the Testarossas and the 328's STILL look great. A week ago I spent a bit of time on Wreckedexotics.com realizing how quickly your pride and joy can become just another wrecked car. The 458 is a car that begs to be driven fast, and frankly I've been REALLY careful to not get too exuberant. The car has capabilities way beyond my skill level in driving, and I've had Ferraris for thirty years. I'd advise to keep it in automatic, with the mannetino on the wet mode until you get up to speed with the car. Melvok is right on the money with his advice. This car is exceptionally easy to break the back tires loose accelerating too hard coming out of a corner. WAY too many videos on you tube of new owners of high powered cars putting the pedal to the metal at the wrong time and regretting it. Beyond the need for self preservation, this car lights your hair on fire, compared to the earlier "supercars". I could sell ALL of my other cars and never miss them with this car!
Totally agree about the auto mode I've had many fast cars but this thing breaks the rear tires loose very easy. The 1st time I took off with my 458 was infront of my house with my wife standing on our front yard filming me. When I shifted into 2nd the rear tires broke loose causing the car to slide I made it look like it was intentional but it wasn't and under other circumstances I could easily have wrecked. Take a little while to get use to it before you hammer it.
Congrats on the purchase Jeff! Big big improvement over the F-Type but you must already know that. Give me a shout if you need at all in regards to performance mods for your car, we have a ton
this is a week for Jeff's to buy F 458's, i just put a deposit down yesterday and get mine in a week. Congrats.
Agree this happend on my test drive! But the salesman just told me to "trust the car and floor it". It was completly different than when I lost traction in my f type. In the jag my heart jumped, but the 458 Inspired so much confidence! Anyway will def keep in auto and post pics when I pick it up!
I will! Weather looks $hitty here (of course) for the next 10 days. Dealer is changing Pirelli's to Michelins tomorrow, then it should be good to go. First Ferrari, can't wait.
