In the April issue there's an article about the "new generation of classics", so I figured there would certainly be mention of the 3x8. There was, and disappointingly so, the author clearly didn't do much research on it. I personally would LOVE to know where there are "tons" of $30k 328's!

Ouch! Can't find a decent 308 for 30k any more either... If he thinks the service is bad on a 3x8, he should research the TR :). Not a well informed author.

He is right. There is nothing more expensive than a cheap Ferrari.

    lol, what a bad article.
    Maybe a copy/paste from 15 years ago?

Well, that statement alone is certainly true.

He should've just gone full cliché and thrown in the bit about it being slower than a Camry too...

Furthermore...as a French, I tend to disregard any paper written by a journalist having a liking for the Citroën SM...that's just me, but I never could understand what could be interesting in that car...unless, of course, you are interested in weird cars. Really beats me that he could advise the reader on putting 70.000 dollars in a SM, and against putting 30.000 in a 308?

The interesting part of the Citroen SM is the gearbox as it was used in the Lotus Esprit :) Its quite a neat design.

That article is a cut and paste as I have seen that before some time ago.

    Let's save the gearbox, then...

I think many, if not most of the guys here would agree with the author's advice to "Beware the cheap Ferrari"; however, I'm not aware of "tons" of 3X8's and Mondials listing for $30K. I rate the snippet as "Half True".

In a way he is right. If his target audience is today's younger "men" who can't change their own wiper blades then he is dead on. Shop labor rates are insane and you will quickly lose your shirt trying to bring a bad car back.

If you have the most basic skills however that's not true at all. Other then the overpriced parts the 308 is IMO one of the easiest cars to wrench on. I'm restoring every nut and bolt down to the frame and I can't get over just how easy it is to work on. Best part is it is fun and therapeutic.

Accurate message written for the audience that will understand the language
    Simple and exaggerated
I'm surprised they didn't misspell some words just to be more clear, I guess they have spell check too.

I think the author of the article is smoking something that he shouldn't have. Effected his brain cells to the point that they cannot function.
