found yesterday: it has "SL053", "BP" and "12/80" writings impressed in the back, each on a different spoke. It's a 7x16" front wheel with a brand new Pirelli P7 that even still has the blue colored strip on the surface. The tire looks to be produced the 13th week of 1980. Looks to be a spare wheel of a crashed and then wrecked car.

Is that an original Campagnolo wheel? what is it?

    Thank you very much.

    ciao

Isn't SL the designation for Speedline?

that's my opinion too, but as I never saw one in person before, I'm asking here if what I know is correct or not!

Thank you very much, as if that is correct, yesterday I did a very good deal as the seller (a scrap yard owner) didn't know if the rim was original or not nor knew that the tire was an original 36 years old brand new P7

    ciao

    edit:
Thanks again, Justin: I did a search with "Speedline SL053" and found this middel308 old post.: it's a 308 original front rim, produced by Speedline.

    I'm very happy!

I gave my original unused Goodyear spare to the tire shop to hang on the wall when I put new rubber on the wheel. Was that dumb? Are the tires worth smthg?

If the car become very collectable over the years and all original a collector may like to have the original tires to show the car.

A friend of mine is restoring a 1970 Boss 302 and put the original worn out tires back on the rims because he is not going to drive the car anyway.

I think it's a personnal choice but I would personally keep them to follow the car as any other original parts. Those are little things that can make a big difference to some collector buyers in some years when time to chose between two cars. To some it might be just crap to put in the garbage.

P.S. I still have the original XWX from my car and will NEVER get rid of them.

    +1

The important piece is the rim, but also an original brand new Pirelli P7 from 1980 has some historic value (and maybe some money value too).

The rim nor the tire was never installed on a car: I checked the rotation on a machine and it's perfect. A bit of corrosion, two scratches on the front probably due to some object there were on the front lid, but it's an undamaged never installed OEM rim with its tire. A great find

Am I wrong or is it the absolutely perfect fitting spare wheel for your "last but one Carb" 308 GTB ?

    Congratulations !

On my Euro 308 GTS that came with the 16" Speedlines and Pirelli P-7s, the spare was a 7" wheel with a brand new 205/55 16 P-7. Sound familiar? When I put new tires on her, I never touched the spare and it looks like this one was treated the same. Since the 225/50 16 rear tires and 205/55 16 front tires were the same diameter, that 7" wheel could be used as a spare front or rear. Those wheels are hard to find since they were only available as options in the rest of the world, not the US. They are a real magnesium alloy, by the way.

    You dug gold Alberto :)

Thinking about putting a spare back in the car but don't want to use the original TRX. If you happen to bump into another one... ;)

My 79 GTS originally had 14" Speedlines. I eventually bought a set of 16" QV wheels from another member here, but I remember being surprised they weren't Campys or Cromodoras to start with.

I doubt an 8" rear, would fit into the front bonnet....
