    Hi

I threw my water pump belt (87 328gtb), and I am waiting for one to come from my Ferrari parts guy

But I need one now to get the car home, what can I buy for a temporary replacement, part number or something that I can from a local parts shop

    Regards

This is a special belt that Ferrari uses. It's a special type of material not rubber which it does grip very good that's why they are narrow compare to most belts and since they are narrow and not rubber, they don't require a lot of tension but they have to be just right as mentioned above, they're pretty sensitive to tension.

    Hi Mike

How do you get your tension just right? Before I broke it, I had the tension set to what the manual mentioned, 4mm deflection in the middle of the belt

But the belt still jumped off, 3 different times.

    Regards

4mm deflection sound about right. Maybe the reason for the belt jumping out is because the belt doesn't lined up with the groove of the pullies, check the alignment of the belt and make sure none of the pulley is loose or wobble as this can also cause the belt to wear out prematurely.
