Good points Dave. We'll see what life deals me as far as options. But if I am keeping the car for the duration in that museum garage setup, I definitely want it to be a dream color... Robb
On talking colors, I live in Arizona where it is sunny over 300 days per year. So how the color looks in the sun is the most important. While I really like Rosso Barchetta, especially in the shade, in the full sun it takes on a bit of a raspberry hue. So that is having me wonder a bit on any darker red colors that in the sun have none of this "berry" present. If I lived in England or a place with more shade, it wouldn't be as much an issue. See the attached photo of Rosso Barchetta in the shade. Gorgeous. Robb Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rosso barchetta on tan interior is absolutely stunning. I agree it looks best in low light however. I think the colour should be based on your interior and being Nero - a red shade doesn't suit as much a nice blue. Couldn't go wrong with azurro California or swatters blue.
Rossa barchetta would be my next color. At the amount I drive it i probably look at it more in the garage and even in the sun the deep color i think is awesome. Comming from black which also looks better in the shade or overcast. Just a minute have to go look at it again. Yup. Black and Rossa Barchetta
I have a 95 spider in rosso barchetta and tan. I live in Texas with lots of sun like AZ, and the color combo looks amazing in my opinion in full sun and in shade. I saw a 355B in this color combo a few years ago at a local event, and having previously wanted a yellow spider, my mind changed forever that day after seeing it in person. Took me two years to find the right car.
You guys are crazeeee Now we have to consider the best colour for a sunny part of the world or a shady part of the world!!! Just goes to show how beautiful the 355 is....it's a perfect study in mechanical design...so much so that even the paint is important. Mine is swaters blue and depending on how the light falls she appeaes deep blue or blue with a purple hue.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Crazy as charged with these cars... We just have to see more images of yours in swaters. Please post more!!!! Gorgeous. I have only seen spiders in swaters in the US. Is lemans blue darker? I thought it was also on the purple side. I thought swaters was more medium blue. What is the difference with all of these and compared to pozzi? Robb
That's a beautiful car. I almost bought an identical car, 95 spider Rosso Barchetta/ Tan with 13k on it back in 2011 but I could not come to terms with the seller. That car hadn't had valve guides done, needed a major and was the stickiest car I'd ever seen. Picture of it below. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Love the car and the color but why the black top boot? It would look great with a boot that matches the seats.
I like Swaters blue and glad it is darker. I always thought it was a brighter blue color that I have seen on the poster and on pictures of John's car. But it is darker. Wish there was a side by side with some of the other blues. I think Azurro California would be a perfect color to contrast with leaving my interior black. These cars look great when the outside and inside contrast. Robb
Thanks John. Mine had 63k on the clock when I bought it a year ago and had been driven and well taken care of. Already had fabspeed headers and Tubi exhaust and had two majors since 2010 and a new clutch. No stickies either. The only cosmetic issue was the dash was just starting to shrink like these do. It's on my list for this year. Ran and idled great when I bought it and had 210psi in all cylinders except 2 and 7, which had around 180. I have the engine out and the car apart right now with the heads off at the machine shop doing guides. Unbelievable that a 95 car with 64k would still have the original crappy factory bronze guides. According to the machinist, only about a third of them were badly worn. Exhaust valves in numbers 2 and 7 were pretty bad hence the slightly lower comp numbers. After I'm done with this project, I'll consider it 'well-sorted' as everyone likes to say. I bought it well enough that the guides didn't bother me too much. Now I know what's in there and will feel good about driving the car for years to come.
That's the way it came to me, and was supposedly ordered that way by the original owner. I really like the black cover with the dark red. It goes well with the black pinstripe and the challenge grille.
Swaters is sensitive to light. Here is a picture of a 360 in TdF compared to my 355. Note the color variation on my 355 with sun angle. My Boxster next to the 360. Also blue. Funny, the first two cars I owned were blue too. 49 Ford and 56 Chevy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow nice cars, John, Baschul, and Lotus. Really like the Rosso Barchetta and Swaters Blue. Great looking 355's! -BE
I'm on the road again this week in Miami but totally under the weather... I was able to have a look at the local shops and started with Ferrari of Ft Lauderdale. I was last here after picking up my brothers GTS from a local owner. They are now fully under construction modernizing their showroom and waiting areas. They will be in a state of flux for a few months. Most of their cars were outside. I had hoped to see the silver 355F1 they had but it was not in an easy spot to get to given all the work.
