My understanding from that is if you regularly use the car on track rather than normal road use as track use tends to be at predominantly much higher revs and loads for longer periods.

I suppose it applies more to F12s and V8s rather than FFs as I can't imagine too many owners buying an FF for track days.

I have not considered how long I will keep the car. I typically rotate after 4-5 years of use. The Merc is a nice car, the FF is a dream which became reality for me. The sound, stance and feel are in a league of their own; I am happy to experience all i have read about.

    Respectfully,

    Jose

Definitely good to hear! Music to my ears indeed, provided you are not part of the Ferrari public relations department LOL. Just joking. I'm definitely glad to hear what was said by the Ferrari engineer because I'll most likely rake up 100K+ miles in such a car.

Miglia Mille and Sicily!...Lucky you to have those within driving distance.

To drive the Targa Florio route up over the mountains from Cerda on deserted roads and through Ferrari worshiping villages then back to the Villa in Casteldaccia is thrilling every time. Matt Munro and Raybans, the V12 reverberating off the mountains .....heaven

Congrats. The upside of a higher miles car is that you can get in and drive the heck out of it and not sweat the wear on the car. I recently bought a high miles 355, and within days put 500 miles on it and scratched up the underside of the freshly-repainted nose pretty good.

I spent an evening seething about it when I first noticed it, but then have put another 400 miles a week on it without remorse!

Good man. Go for with a vengeance as when you have reached the grand old age of .. you will regret every second listening to your head and not following your heart.

My old man used to say 'life is meant to be an adventure and when the adventure stops.......get off' sound advice I think.

So true. My father was a professional boxer, traveled the world. He told me the same, "do things while you can; later, it will all be but a memory. Be passionate about your life"

+1 Love the FF. On my second and can't imgine anything better. As I don't like the GTC4L I plan on driving my current model into the ground :)

Congrats on your purchase. Enjoy it, it's the best car out there!

Most here seem to prefer the GTC4L, which is great, each to their own, but for me, the FF is truly beautiful. I had a dialogue last week with a fellow fchat member, who said that the release of the GTC4L has made any design 'flaws' of the FF disappear and suddenly looks more pure, elegant and refined. Couldn't agree more. Just my humble opinion :)

FF has design integrity and bold originality, the last of PF, with all their experience.

Lusso is a market driven pieces-and-parts design. It's not timeless and amazing. It's a combo of dated and generic modernity. The features are better, but the whole is not. New design team.

Today I was at at a baseball game in Oakland with a few friends. They had heard from my nephew that the FF had an a$$ like kim kardashian. As we approached the car from the rear after the game, I pointed out, more like Beyoncé than Kim, no?

Ryan, I am currently considering purchasing a 355. Your thoughts/opinions are welcomed. My wife loves the FF; the addiction has begun...

Funny cause I told my wife I want to keep this one, and add either a 612 or FF next. So i can have both a small, manual convertible and a 4 seat V12 GT. I haven't driven those, only 550s and a 575 F1. I've driven pretty much all the V8s from 328 on though, various Porsches and Astons. I've ridden in dozens more from 275GTB to F40s to Enzo to Murcielago.

The little V8 is a wholly different experience from the big V12s. The 355 is quite small compared to the newer cars, and the frame is low and compact. Basic power steering is linear and communicative. Which creates the sensation of being a 380hp gokart. Mine has aftermarket headers, race pipes and a Tubi, which makes it scream. I'm sure the noise level is illegal in some places. I know every overpass and tunnel in town now.

355 has little torque and is pretty weak under 3000rpms, but dry weight under 3000lbs and dropping gears to rev means that it snaps forward even at freeway speeds. It will zip from 60 to 120 without hesitation if you wring it out. It won't bite to spin like a Vette or Viper at launch though. It pops and makes whirring and mechanical sounds at various temperatures and speeds. In the spider you get a whiff of hot engine smell when you pull up to a light. The windows are slow. The temperature controls are the classic "asthmatic hamster wheezing through a straw" - the highest setting is like the lowest setting on my Audi. You've probably read about the maintenance costs, although mine doesn't need that yet having been checked out already with a fairly recent belt.

Probably the best comparison 355 to FF would be like comparing a 993 S with a Panamera Turbo. One is fairly basic, small, mechanical, direct, raspy "sports car" in the classic definition. The other a comfortable, hugely powerful, 2+2 modern GT.
