My 458 Italia had a battery cell go bad with the result that the computer preferences have apparently reset following the installation of a new battery. Prior to the failure there was no alert sound on either locking or unlocking the car. I liked it that way.

Now that the new battery is in, the lock and unlock alarm sounds. The dealer told me that all American cars are this way and make the sound with lock and unlock. Since the car did not exhibit a sound with lock and unlock before, there must be a way to make it quiet again.

I've searched this forum and the web but cannot find an answer. I would appreciate any help someone can provide. Thanks!

I had the reverse of this where the sounds did operate and then stopped. There is no way to change it in settings and mine was fixed with a software update.

I suspect that you had the same problem initially, without being aware it was a problem, and then the dealer updated your car's software which restored the beeps.

I think you are stuck with them.

Not a perfect answer, I keep one of my windows open.

There has to be a way to open the door of a dead battery car.

I will ask my mechanic when I see him. He was lead Mechanic at a big Ferrari dealership.

Interesting question. I need to know if it happens to me.

There is a key slot below the driver door handle in case of a dead battery. You use your ignition key to open the door in case of an emergency.
