Hi Guys, I'm looking at a 1981 Bianco White 308 GTBi, chassis #38043, the car has been resprayed so I'm not sure this is the original color, it has black seats and dark blue carpets.

The car looks very good and had a major service end of last year but lacks some service history and the original service book is lost, most history is traceable, I have info on the original importer and I the one mechanic I know recognizes the car, he worked / serviced it the last 10 years or so.

I don't trust the mileage which shows only 36000miles.

I will get some more information and take some pics.

My question for now is the color, I might be wrong but Bianco white ? was that not a color used on later QV models.

    regards
    John

Bianco white and blue inside, nothing wrong with that..... (no clue what is correct on GTB though)

Black seats with blue carpet? What color door panels? With blue carpet I would have expect blue seats too.

It is amazing how many cars for sale have that mileage. You are right to be skeptical.

My 1981 GTSI is Bianco White and I get tons of complements on the color, it really brings out the lines of the 308. Its refreshing to see a white 308 in a sea of red ones at the italian car shows

Thanks guys, yes I like it for sure but I doubt that the mileage is correct.

Does anyone know the ave. price tag for a GTB in Uk or France, I think the guy wants to much.

    Thanks for the inputs.

I think UK price for RHD GTBi is around £6-80k bianco or otherwise matters little but mileage and condition. LHD ones not so much.

I did really loved my "Bianco FER 100" 1984 208 turbo GTS, Bianco is one of the greatest colors for a 308. The combiantion with the blue/black interior might be original.
A well sorted, not red, original european GTBi is about 75k - 85k EUR here in central Europe.

Good luck with that car, it's rare (only 494 cars built), even in bianco it's much rarer. At that time, bianco was a "not so beloved" color, so IMO there are less than 30 cars in that color.

I think in the 70s it's called Bianco Polo Park of Salchi paint. Bianco FER 100 for Glasurit paint.

Yes, it was one of the basic colors available for every MY of the 308 series. Most often with a red or black interior, but definitely some speced with brown/tan or blue, or even white, as well.

I would *guess* that white with blue interior is likely one of the rarest OE combinations for the 308. I think I've only ever seen just one that I can remember ---- either in person or in photos. It's much more of an American color combo --- so likely not too popular for European cars of the era.

I would also speculate that nearly all ordered from the factory with that combo were ordered directly by American customers when new.

White/blue would look good I think. Certainly not as bland as my white/white either.

Here is a link to a '79 GTS with black/ blue interior.

    1979 Ferrari 308GT -

I don't see why it might not be possible on an '81. Do you have reason to be skeptical about the milage? Many 308's have relatively low milage, my '81 only has 26k miles. Good luck with the purchase, if the price is right and it checks out, I would not hesitate!

My 1978 UK dry sump GTB was white from new with a black interior. We bought it 1980 when it was a little over a year old. Resprayed it red in the 1990s when it had a full rebuild but kept all original parts as much as possible. Interior inc carpets is totally original and in certain light the black carpet definitely could be mistaken for very dark blue, in fact I'm pretty sure it is blue but others disagree.

Excuse the photograph quality, sadly we lost all the pictures of it in white many years ago.

I'd bet the carpets were originally black but have faded with exposure to UV/ sunlight. I've seen that on another older 308 with a black interior.

I agree with Dino944, the quality of the black carpet was very poor in late 70s and they fade to dark blu (I suspect the yellow 308 shown in that case).

There is a easy way to be sure about the original color for the carpet is to look at the vynil behind the seat.
Its color is the same of the carpet so if it is a black one, then, the carpet was black...

The other way if to found a non-touched part of the carpet. Most of the time, the carpet around the under dashboard Ferrari vent is very protected from light...

GT4, 208, not leather, fabric interior. Car was originally monte carlo blue and repainted in Bianco polo park many years ago. Plans for the future is to go back to blue, perhaps monte carlo blue.

Wow, love that interior. Think it would look great in contrast to the original MonteCarlo Blue paint.

Thank you! Not sure what blue it might be. Monte Carlo for originality, FC member Hans GT4 is a bit darker from what I remember. Also great. Others more blue metallic that makes the lines and design clearer. Difficult.
