Sometime I smell gasoline odor coming from the back. Is this normal or I should have my car checked? The smell is usually stronger in the first few minutes. After a few minutes I don't smell the gasoline anymore. And when I switch off the engine I could smell the gasoline from the right side mostly (from air flow intake grill). No smell from the left side. I am suspecting one of the gas tanks is leaking?

Let me know if anyone here has had the same issue. Thank you!

Most 360's get this at some point. It's probably coming from the roll over valve, or at least I think that's what it's called.
    Don't worry, it's a cheap fix :)

Get a smoke test done. That'll pinpoint exactly where.

I would never ignore gas smell personally.

It's not normal. If fuel leaks onto your exhaust, your car could catch fire. Don't ignore this.

I just had this. It was a rollover valve. It was pretty visible when the side cover came off. It's not a big deal unless you ignore it and burn up your car. I wouldn't drive it until it's fixed.

It's only cheap if you have a coupe. A spider is alot more. :)

Depending who you ask, the spider takes a lot more work because to access the rollover valves, you need to remove the spider top. Some claim that later model cars have an access panel that lets you change the valves without removing the roof. I've never been able to verify this one way or the other.

For me, I had similar symptoms. It was the fuel pump leaking.

Mine was fuel pump. 430 but same setup. The plastic at the top where the fuel comes out had perished and cracked. Google Ferrari fuel leak and you will get pictures of burned out wrecks. Don't drive it, fix it.

I have a 2003 Spider and it definitely doesn't have an access cover for the rollover valves.

Here is a link to a YouTube video fuel pump replacement which the roll-over check valves are mid way through.

Correct. Access panel is for fuel pumps only. Cost for all rollovers was about $2500 in my 2003 spider.

I had it done on my Spider and you have to take the convertible top off to get at the roll over valves and its best (preventative maintenance) to do both roll over valves and fuel pumps at same time.

    guys thanks again!

mine is 2001 european version. a few months ago i actually tried to replace the fuel tanks but it turned out we couldn't find access to the fuel tanks without taking the whole convertible top out? does this sound right? there is a cover on top of the fuel tanks that we couldn't take out because the cover was latched together with the convertible top.

we watched a youtube video but the cover underneath the top is totally different than mine and it has access to the fuel pumps while mine has no access to the fuel pumps. It was just one piece of cover made of plastic without any hole or access.

does anyone have any info on how to replace the fuel tanks of european version convertible 01?

You can see one of the two per side rollover valve is close to the access cover (if your year has one), but the whole top assembly will still need to come off in order to access it.
