Tim, all I can say is wow! I hadn't seen this thread until recently and it took me a couple of days on and off to read every posting. It was (is) an incredible journey and it was so extraordinary of you to bring the readers along every step of the way. I loved the technical depth and it only served to deepen my respect for the complexity of these beautiful machines. The F40 is my newfound love! Your LM takes it to a different level in its aggressive looks. The photos of the restoration are a lesson in how to document a restoration for all to emulate. Thanks for bringing us all along for your incredible project. Like others, I felt deflated when restoration process got to the end, but I'm certain you were ecstatic that it was finally over and you could begin admiring this beastly beauty for years to come. I look forward to the EVO video and will be looking at this thread religiously for updates.
    Best,

    Chris

Thanks Chris and glad you found the thread, albeit is has morphed into something I never expected when I started the journey.

In a strange way, I too am sad (but relieved at the outcome), that the journey is almost over and once we have done the Evo video, then hopefully I might get the opportunity to actually put some miles on her myself, but at least finally get her into the garage so at least I can stare on a daily basis!

Obviously I still have more readin to do but I'm willing to bet you have gotten it sorted and am happy driving it by now. Or at least I hope so!!!! I'm headin back to page 120something to finish reading up!!!

    Tim,

Phew, finally finished the whole thread after several days of binge reading. I am sorry I missed all the excitement along the way in real time but even reading a couple years later it still got my heart racing as you were getting down to each deadline!! And man-oh-man did the car ever turn out AMAZINGLY WELL. What a beauty and what a beast at the same time.

Looking forward to hearing what you think after you are finally able to get behind the wheel and do some serious driving. What a fantastic journey and thank you so much for sharing with all us other petrol heads here!!!

By the way I don't suppose there are any copies of the books left? I'm sure they went quickly!! And I probably missed it and hate being one of "those guys", but do you have a firm date yet for the Evo video? Looking forward to seeing and hearing it running at full tilt!!

    John

    Many thanks John.

The book is proving a nightmare. Book 1 is done, and Book 2 was 98% finished and then the online system I was using, had a bug at their end and a third of the book disappeared overnight. To now find the missing images, with no hard copy reference, will take me months.

As to Evo, now the weather window is opening again here in the UK, we are just agreeing venue and date, so sometime between now and August. Meanwhile.......

Thanks for the update. Sorry the book is proving so difficult. Hopefully you are able to get it sorted without too much trouble.

    Dear Tim,

You can drop the car off to me in Brompton Square at any time that suits.

Please leave the wrapping paper on as the car looks just fine.

    Regards

Epic is a word that is often too frequently utilized, but in this case is entirely appropriate. Congratulations Tim on a really fantastic car! Very sorry to read of the troubles with the book....

Many thanks. Yes the books have turned out to be a struggle and now I find the finished and saved Book 1 also has more holes in it than Swiss Cheese due to their software issues. I will get it resolved, but it will take a while.

Other people, the ones that don't have or understand the excitement and the passion an F40 can instill may say "looney bin".

    A quick update.

Still waiting on Evo for a video date, but meanwhile assembling our own history of Dyno runs etc and might have to add some in car video when we have a chance.

I have now mostly redone the book so with any luck, in the next couple of weeks, i can provide price et for those interested, that is provided there are no more software issues.

Great to hear! Hopefully they won't screw the book up again. I'm sure that was frustrating.

Thanks for the gratuitous pics of the car, it's so incredibly gorgeous.

Thanks Tim! Both are beautiful but yours is my favorite! Your dedication and passion to get this right through the process, and then the spectacular result can only be described as leaving me gobsmacked! Can't wait for more!

Just to update everyone on the books. They are finally just about done (for the third time!) and I have sent a PM to everyone who showed interest so if you have not received a mail from me and want more information, please let me know.

    Thanks
