Squealing breaks are so embarrassing. It is like a beautiful Female Opera Start Farting at the Top of her note!

Thanks for your many comments and suggestions.

Not to me, I've been to enough tracks and heard the brakes squeeling as the race cars drive through the pits that squeeling brakes on a high end sports car make me smile - because it usually means the driver actually drives it instead of cruising the mall parking lot.

I'll be in Singapore in a couple of weeks.. if you can find me $3K pads I'll buy them! quoted $4,800 here for fronts only.

There are no after market pads that I am aware of or I would buy something different.

GiroDisc has offered to make steel rotors but they need an example to blue print and I haven't had the oppty to take mine off and send them to them yet.

On the MacL P1 they there for went to the latest version of brake, I think it's called Akebono or ...

Ferrari should also have changed to that being the very best brakes now available.

Akebono is just another company. Brembo is much more famed.

Sorry, mate. The service manager won't sell the pads for cash and carry. He said all their parts must be professionally installed by them. I checked and realized I paid less than USD$3k including labor. The service manager mentioned that he gave me a nice discount as they really wanted to help with the brake squeal. You should squeeze your dealer for a similar gesture. I can't say enough good things about the service I got from my dealer. They are by far, the best service experience I have ever received from any official dealer!

Thanks for checking.. I have line on buying them from a source in the EU for less than 1/2 the cost here in the US. Do you know of any after market pads available for the Speciale? I called Brembo but they are under a gag order / NDA from discussing any current model -1 of any Ferrari. All they can say is "Call you local dealer for details"

Thanks again for checking, would have been nice to pick up some cheap pads while I'm in Singapore.

I saw in an older thread, which u participated that talked about alternative brake pads. Did u take it further with them? I understand from that thread that another user (MuratC) was using aftermarket Pagid RSC pads on his Speciale.

Have yet to see a single 458 F12 488 that doesn't brake squeel at some point.

I'm sure he is correct. It's had to believe though because a brake squeal is just the brake pads vibrating at a high frequency. The grease just dampens the vibrations. Oh well, like all things that move from the track to the street. You have to accept the good with the bad.

My Stradale has CCM brakes and they have never squealed in 18,000 miles. I also have a Speciale with 2,000 miles and no squealing brakes. I drive them aggressively, but maybe not hard enough to make the brakes squeal :)

These cars are definitely expensive, but they make a lot of people happy.

This sequels are driving me crazy on my 488 Spider !!

I brought the car 3 times to the dealer, he tried everything : taking a layer off the pads, champering...The sequels dissapear for 24/48h and comeback harder! I don’t drive the car on track just street usage (but sporty driving)

@Jasone, did you managed to fix it with pad replacement ? @woody byrd any update?

Rady to invest in pads replacement just want to be sure before dropping that money that it will be the fix

    Any help?

    Thx

This might prove effective in curing a quick chirp on initial brake application or release, but the cure for a continuous squeal during braking relates to an issue with the friction surfaces on the pad and rotor. I didn't have on my 458 and I pray I won't have it on my 488.

Let’s put the brake squeal in the same category as the sticky buttons. You know it’s coming at some point. After all it’s what we’ve come to expect from a 300 grand plus car. Lol

I have driven 5 different 488s including my own one and 4 of them squeaked.....

Mine did not start squeaking till about 2000 miles and now it happens intermittently usually in that zone between cold and really hot. Cold no squeak really hot no squeak other times squeaking!

    Regards

    Michael
