I woke up the TR Sunday AM and took here for her first drive of the season. It was a beautiful day if still a bit chilly outside. Little traffic, open back roads, and a gated shifter - almost heaven... Driving some other fun cars recently with lesser cylinders (or no cylinders!), I had forgotten the joyous feeling and raucous sound a flat 12 can give you. The plate is perfect for that car - ANDIAMO - Let's GO!

Mine too. No worry. Full tank with a bottle of Stabil on storage and kept on a battery tender. Hit the key and it was just like I drove it yesterday.

I hope spring is finally here in our parts. Need to get her out more often and show people (IMHO) the last iconic design to come out of Maranello.

    I did say IMHO. :D

But seriously, anything after the TR series is some form of what my brother used to call the "melted jelly bean" look. OK, I admit I do like the 550/575 - especially the 550 Barchetta. Anything later in the 12 cylinder family leaves me cold. Performance of the F12 - incredible. Looks - not so much.

The 355 is the last small, nimble V8, but the design - while very nice and will age well - is not an icon. Anythings later is the melted or creased jelly bean. And I own a 360 Modena. Maybe attractive but not iconic.

I would love to see them step outside of that realm and really do something bold again. But with all the demand for aero efficiency, mileage, pedestrian impact, yada-yada, I think we are stuck in a government mandated rut.

What the heck - here is another pic. Nothing like seeing them in their natural habitat out on the open roads.

Sounds like the same words that were spoken of the Dino in the late '70's.
