Spent yesterday trying to track down groaning steering. R&R'd the bushing and pinion extension all to no avail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
997, I see you have the aluminum pedals. Where did you get yours. I see superformance has them. I have not bought anything from them. I don't understand how the money conversion is going to work and is the shipping really high to the states? Its not what I have done to my car today but what I will be doing is that nasty heater hose from the engine to the front through the frame that just broke. Thanks Dave
Well, I'm excited to have my suspension rebuild completed this week. QA1 with Eibach 350/400# springs Energy Suspension poly bushings. Stainless steel brake lines. (Fluid flush) Delrin steering rack bushings. New tires. Corner balance and alignment. Upgraded sway bars with heim links and poly bushings. I think that's everything.
When I was living in Dallas, I had parts sent over from the UK and was amazed at the service: Fast and not that expensive. Right now the Pound is relatively low against the dollar (likely to do with the 'Brexit' thing), so would be a good time to get something if you need it.
I know! Have you seen her lately? Maybe I need to somehow reconfigure where I can put a seat in the middle.
Had alternator rebuilt and voltage regulator replaced. Was putting out nearly 20 volts!!! Now back to a healthy 13.5 when running. Not happy with how my new Nouvalari exhaust fits. Very experienced and respected mechanic has spent quite a few hours on it but unfortunately it's a compromise. Sounds very good but just doesn't quite hang quite right. Shame. Will probably change for another brand at some point.
In addition to futzing around with the accelerator pedal for heel-toeing, I replaced some cardboard that was stuck to the underside of my battery cover with some adhesive-backed foam (before and after pics below). Also bought a trunk organizer that fits perfectly in the rear trunk space. Got it from Amazon at Amazon.com: FloridaBrands Cargo Trunk Organizer, Collapsible and Foldable - Black: Home & Kitchen. Got my lift put in this morning, and just as they finished the install, the GTB arrived Now I will take it for a little drive Image Unavailable, Please Login
That's a pretty sweet idea to hang them upsidedown from the ceiling. Totally clears out more floor space.
Very healthy 13.8 volts after alternator rebuild. New £10 Ebay voltage regulator also worked a treat. Love the voltage meter also from Ebay. Very cheap but pretty accurate. Time for a drive! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Here's what my exhaust looks like. It was on the car when I got it. I really like the looks and sound. I believe its a Nouvalari.
Took the 308 out on a drive with some friends around the Pescadero loop. It still takes the hills and curves like a champ. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I used a clay bar on my windows today. I thought they were clean. I was wrong! Clay turned black! Now it's like the windows are invisible
Dragged the GT4 out of hibernation and immediately remembered it needed its annual test, plus it also has pretty bad brake judder. Once apart, seems its been skimmed before but out of true - both sides. So here she is having the discs skimmed by me. Passed the test after this so back on the road Image Unavailable, Please Login
The day started well with a bright sunshine and a bacon roll. Today was a driver experience day with the cars split into groups of 5/6 of roughly equal performance. Led out by a pace car. My 77 308 needless to say did not trouble the rest of the pack made of 360's and a testerossa. There was another 308 but it was owned by a Tarmac rally driver. The course stared life as a government test centre. The course is very different to usual tracks. It has banked turns, long tightening curves, as well as steep rises with blind beds into steep drops, and a golf course next to the track. There are no run off areas and it is marked out like normal roads, so it is used by many magazine, vilm and tv companies I understand that the site is now owned by Disney and there is a permanent Star Wars set just visible as you join the circuit. I made the mistake of turning round with my phone in my hand as we went past. At the end of my friends 4 laps we were called over to security and I had to show I had no photos of the set ! But no biggie as I sid not have any incriminating evidence. As it was England We did experience 4 seasons bright sunshine, grey clouds, cold wind and briefly snow that adds to the experience. Auto Italia promised that this was was the 1st of more events to come here. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Replaced one of the radiator fan units on the 328. Motor was dead and around me a rebuild was more expensive than buying a new entire unit.
First really good drive with the quick rack and QA1 suspension. 2000km through very billy country side with roads in excellent condition. I couldn't be happier. This photo in Merimbula in NSW Image Unavailable, Please Login
Beautiful car! How do you like the quick rack? I've been tempted by this but I already find the steering pretty heavy when parking and I'm worried about making it unreasonably heavy at low speed. Did you find much of a difference at parking speed?
