That's terrible. Please tell me it's NOT a 911. At least you know who stole it. If it were me, the police would be involved, and I'd probably be brought up on murder charges. I hate thieves.

Back to the original thread, you're going to need the supporting documents: copy of cashier's check, wire transfer, statement(s) from your friend.

Sorry for your loss. What's keeping this a civil case, if the car was stolen? Could you not prove ownership?

If you bought it off your friend, if you failed to register the car, then it should still be registered to your friend who can file a theft report?

I'm still not understanding how you can 'own' a car with no bill of sale. The rest of us pay taxes on that sort of thing, and we get a title.

White fuchs rims, about 21K miles, little dent above the right rear wheel, interior seats cracked and worn, leaking oil!

We had car inspected, and thats whats needs to be done:
    1. Replace fuel tank in front, replace hoses in front, replace filler neck hose.
    2. Replace fuel lines on engine, replace various other cracked hoses on engine.
    3. Check compression and leak down test.
    4. Wash engine and transmission, check source of oil leaks and report.
    5. Major service engine and transmission, replace brake fluid. Check clutch operation, adjust if needed. Lubricate linkages (lots of rust)
    6. Replace both torsion bars with good used parts. (one is broken and other will brake soon) Must replace both.
    7. Brake system:lots of surface rust on rotors, clean up best us possible , or do a complete new brake disk and pad job
    8. Needs tires (very bad condition)
    9. Needs rear sway bar mounts replaced
    10. Emergency brake system needs repair (open)
    11. Oil coolant system replacement, bent lines, leaking lines, corrosion

Thats what we have done from above:
    1. Replaced fuel tank and fuel hoses at front.
    2. Replaced both torsion bars with good used parts
    3. Compression and leak down test.
    4. Synthetic oil change.
    5. Interior clean up.
