Can one see physically they're bad? Or something you feel when driving?

Motor mounts = vibration. I noticed it in the steering wheel, it's marked. Best way to check is lift up car and take off pan and see the smooshing.

Transmission mounts= possibly shifting hesitation, a "jounce" when you shift at speed.

Transmission mount--look at the position of your tailpipes. If they are resting on the grill or are lower than center, you could have a tranny mount issue

Might be able to look from the top, past the exhaust, or from the bottom with the panel removed, whilst using a mirror.

I've attached a picture of a stuffed transmission mount. The rubber is split and cracked.
